Never really got into Diablo. Hack and slash games always seemed boring because of how mindless they are. Is D3 still living up to the standard hack and slash genre?

Yes, not as mindless as sitting at a pachinko machine for 2 hours but getting there, whether or not that's a good or bad thing would depend on what you look for in a video game. Some people enjoy switching their mind off and going into auto pilot for a few hours as it helps them relax.

I will say it, people who prefer D2 over D3 after playing it for more than 10 minutes are mentally challenged end of story.
