Causis continues his acsent up the ramp with his soldiers. "Let's go then heroes."

The party ascends the ramp to the next platform and find nothing. The Forsaken secure the main mechanisms in the Forge and find no Scourge to meet them. The company moves on along the next ramp towards the Forge antechamber where the Devourer of Souls once dwelled.

Now, at the third story, Causis, the Forsaken and the adventurers stumble on a grisly sight. The corpses of Scourge ghouls, gesists, abominations and gargoyles coat the floor. "My lord, is the Alliance here with us?" asks a captain. Causis looks at the remains at a ghoul who's been ripped apart. "No, this isn't conventional warfare." A shrill cry comes from the end of the passageway. Seeeevvvveeeeennnvoooidsss!

Scourge charge from the passage towards the company. Their yellow eyes pierce the darkness and screams start ranging into ear-shot. Causis raises his hammer into the air and scremas, "Get ready!!!" The Forsaken prepare their weapons but a large flash interupts the battle and the Scourge are replaced by a ball of fire. A pile of rubble now fills the hallway and robed figures walk out of it and approach the party. One of the figures presents himself before the party, the Forsaken move backwards, it seems to Voice has returned.
"Causis, you've arrived just in time. I trust you and your mercenaries are ready to take the plunge? His voice sounds enshrouded with a variety of others, almost demonic. Shadow-like tentacles drip from his hood and his red eyes peer to Causis, who stands motionless, as if preparing a statement. "Not I. I and these heroes are here to stop you. Kel'Thuzad will remain dead." The Voice's eyes widen. "What say you, heroes? Do you betray the Dark Lady as well?"

"I never served her, so it isn't Betrayal. Even if I had served her, I wouldn't mind Betraying her for this." Velexis said

"Considering she's done next to nothing for me or against me, I really don't care what happens to her, but at this point, if that's what it takes to end this massacre..." Rayin echoed.

((sorry for the prolonged reply. work's been busy as hell.))

Lethean and Neyira both looked at each other, then nodded. "I never held any faith nor loyalty towards Sylvanas. She's never done anything to or for me." Lethean snarled.
    "Nor I," Neyira agreed.
"What is evil must be stopped."

The three figures stood before the party, their eyes beamed towards the adventurers and Causis. "This is true. However, seeing as you now fight beside her majestie's soldiers, surley you must see what I mean." The robed creatures reach to their sides and begin to pull out swords from their sheathes. "This does not change you now stand in our way." More figures rise from the shadows in the long corridor before the army. They walk towards the company as if they are possessed by some other force than their own. "Now, witness the terrible vengeance, of the Forsaken!" The massing numbers of the Voice charge toward the Forsaken and their allies. From behind the fray a distant scream could be heard booming near the Forge antechamber. You can't hide Sevenvoids! I will consume you!!

((i was starting to think the RP had died out, so i didn't come here after my raid yesterday.. but i'm back now!))

Velexis quickly drew her sword from her sheathe, send a quick prayer and then jumped into the fray, a feint shimmer of light around her. As one of the three figures struck her, the feint shimmer quickly lit up, and absorbed the hit, allowing her to cotinue her attacks striking the middle figure. A quick cut from above stunned the figure, leaving it open for more attacks, an advantage she used to it's fullest. She got two more strikes in before the figure could resume it's defences

    ((Yay ))

Neyira and Lethean both held their runeblades tightly, but only Lethean had the feral look in his eyes that emanated a cold vengeance and a desire to see his foe wiped from existence. Neyira only stared stonily at the Voice, Icegore and Frosthowl's tips barely touching the ground.
Lethean raised Shadowfrost in to the air. "I hold no loyalty to Sylvanas. My loyalty is dedicated to the Knights of the Ebon Blade. And our purpose, our mission, is to see the Scourge eradicated. Kel'Thuzad had no right to live, nor did he have the right to return. And neither shall he obtain the right to plague these lands again."
"Sylvanas means nothing to me; her name, the Forsaken - None of it. I serve the Ebon Blade. And so I betray no one." Neyira growled.

The Voices grin in a maniacal fashion, their red eyes are now fully visible from underneath their hoods. "Kill the Death Knights!!!" The mass of figures continue their charge and those in front swong towards Lethean and Neyira. Some others branch off and attack the others, and others still become balls of black smoke and fly over the party into the army of Forsaken. Now, the company of Forsaken and adventurers faces a force of Voice copies, each with a maniacle grin, red eyes and shadow magics.

Causis looks in shock at the incoming figures. The hallway is filled with them and he hasn't forgotten how he dealt with Sevenvoids hours earlier. Are we to meet the same fate? The paladin raises his hammer and swings into a group of copies. One of them parries the attack and another casts a shadow spell towards Causis. Dodging the blow, Causis has a thought after seeing his attack fail so suddenly. An image of the battered Scourgelord appears in his head, arm torn off and whimpering, Light be with us. He begins another swing and strikes a copy that then disappears in a cloud of dark smoke. He screams, "Come my brothers! Destroy the traitor!!!"

Neyira narrowed her eyes, all trace of her humanity gone.
With a savage growl, the Kaldorei death knight swung her runeblades towards the first Voice that came within her reach. Her swords seemed to slide right through the copy, and it disappeared. This took her by surprise, but only momentarily, and soon she was cutting the Voices apart with little trouble.
Lethean dodged the blow of the first Voice that attacked him, but when he tried to strike it with Shadowfrost, his runeblade passed through the copy. He expected the copy to disappear as the one Neyira attacked had, but instead it just laughed; an eerie noise that pierced him. The copy teleported twenty yards away, and lifted both its hands. Its dark eyes gazed in to the blood elf's, and he suddenly felt all his willpower be taken away.
Four shadowbolts crashed in to him, exploding and sending him flying back. He struck a wall at least ten feet in to the air, and slid down. Shadowfrost smashed in to the wall as well, only the runeblade shattered in to a thousand shards of transparent, glass-like material.
Though he was only just recovering from his previous wounds, and now this one, Lethean felt a connection, a piece of himself fade away. The death knight gasped, and laid his head back against the wall he was propped up by, feeling empty.
"No . . . " he whispered, as he watched the copy raise its hands again, shadowbolts ready.

Neyira felt Lethean take the hit, but what she felt afterwards seemed to cut through the cold haze that had settled upon her.
"Leth!" she cried, swiping at the copy that was harrying her. Icegore cut through the copy's throat, and it vanished. It had been trying to cast a spell of some sort, shadowy tendrils crawling around its arms and hands, but whatever it was, she didn't want to find out what its effects were.
She rushed to her friend's aid, and jumped right at the copy that held two shadowbolts in its hands.
She impaled both runeblades in to the copy's back, but the copy's body seemed to turn transparent, and then solidified, ripping her runeblades from her grasp. The blades seemed to vanish out of thin air, only to reappear forty yards away, out of both hers and Lethean's reach.
To her utter shock, the copy turned around and grabbed her by the throat with one hand; the other still holding a prepared shadowbolt. She clawed at the copy's hand, but its grip was powerful.
"You wisssssh to sssee another day?" it hissed, its voice hollow. But what terrified her the most was that it sounded much like Lethean's. She looked into its glowing red eyes, and saw her own reflection within the dark crimson.
"You will be dissssappointed." it snarled. It turned, and with an overpowering strength tossed her at the wall. She slammed in to it with enough force to send a spiderweb of cracks along its length, and she landed on her side next to Lethean.
The copy raised both its hands, charging the two shadowbolts with even more power, and prepared to throw them, both death knights injured and at its mercy.

((so now i get to save both your DK's sorry asses? sounds fair..))

Velexis noticed the Deathknights lying on the ground with one of the copies charging up Shadowbolts. She quickly drew her sword and ran towards the clone charging the Shadowbolts. One of the other clones appeared in her path, but Velexis kept running, simply grapping it by the shoulder, forcing it to it's knees and then rolling over it. As she made it to the copy, she swung her sword upwards, cutting off one of it's hands, stopping it's concentration and both the Shadowbolts disapeared with a quiet sizzle as the energy kept within them disapated.

The copy turned, hissing, as it drew its injured hand to its chest. With the other, it made a gesture towards Velexis, and a blast of shadow magic slammed in to her, distracting her long enough for the copy to turn back to the death knights. "You are all foolssss to fight usssss." it snarled, and charged a massive spell. It casted it, and an amplified version of the spell it had just used to stun Velexis slammed in to the to stunned death knights. The wall behind them cracked and broke, and chunks of it fell down around the death knights as they were instantly buried in a mound of rubble. Its task completed, the copy faded away, reappearing behind its fellow copies.

Lethean stirred, just as the wall he was propped up against began to crumble and collapse. He felt a presence beside him, but whoever it was, he or she was out cold and helpless. That being thought, the blood elf forced himself to his knees, and raised both hands. He murmured a word in the Scourge tongue, and a transparent purple bubble exploded around both of them. The falling chunks of wall bounced harmlessly off of his shield, exploding in to dust and creating a swirling cloud of smoke around them. He poured more and more energy in to the shield, willing it to stay up, until at last he felt the shaking begin to cease. Cautious, he let the shield down, and coughed as the dust swirled fervently around his face.
Shaken, in pain, but satisfied nothing was broken, Lethean stood carefully, and looked around. The other - whom turned out to be Neyira, he realized with shock - was still unconscious and without her runeblades.
Suddenly, the death knight felt the thought slam in to him; Shadowfrost. He gazed in fury at the shards of his runeblade, and his hands curled in to fists.
"You bastard," he snarled viciously, but turned away from the destroyed sword. He noticed Velexis, but made his way over to Neyira and knelt beside her. The Kaldorei stirred, but did not wake.
"Velexis," he called, looking over his shoulder to the paladin. "I need your help."

Causis watched in horror as his companions were being destroyed by the Voice's copies. Without a second thought he charged past a mass of figures toward the adventurers in hopes of somehow helping them. The paladin screamed as he knocked copy after copy to their backs, "Lethean! Velexis! Hold on!!" Balls of smoke then smashed into the floor in front of him and figures rose from their landing sites. They drew their swords and ran toward Causis with every intent on cutting him down. He raised his hammer and swung down unto a center Voice; the copy dodged his swing and sliced into his arm. Causis was then stabbed by the other two assailants and he was stuck where he stood. Oh Light, they're cutting me into pieces! He attempted to rip himself from the Voice's blades, but more jumped onto him. "Apologies paladin, but it seems the Light doesn't appreciate your treachery." The Voices now pile onto Causis and he dissapears into the masses.

Causis closes his eyes as he enters the void, a dark pit of seemingly endless night. He attempts to look down at his hands, but he sees nothing. His consciousness floats in the Void, without purpose but only a thought. This is not the salavation I deserved... He begins to feel colder and colder as the blackness seems to engulf his consciousness and his thoughts get fainter. Wh......d...I...do....to..de.ser...ve...this? "Betrayal." The voice booms from the darkness and returns his thoughts to him. "But not of your Forsaken. But of a greater...power." The voice sounds like the Voice's, but deeper and much more profound. The speaker fills the void with promise of a return from sanity and Causis' terror is being alleviated. "I have a proposition for you."

The pile begins to disband after seeing that Causis has delved into death. The corpse sits with a few of the copie's that dissapear in small bits of smoke. The Forsaken charge into the mass. "Save him! Save him!" The undead scream as they attempt to recover the paladin's now lifeless corpse. "So naive! Surrender Forsaken! Your precious paladin and his cohorts are beaten! He is...! Just then an explosion of red energy engulfs the Voices and parts of the Forsaken line. Both sides fly back over ledges and into walls from the blast. Those that remained looked towards the epicenter and see Causis' corpse rise from the ground. His eyes beam a deep red and his hammer is engulfed in shadow energy. He speaks, "Voice! The Light may have forsaken me, but regardless, you will die for this betrayal!" Causis' voice sounds like the Voice's, but deeper and more profound. Dark wings appear on the paladin's back and he turns to the mass. He swings and the copies fly down the hallway; he then looks to his allies who now lay in pain, just as they were before his most recent death. "Heroes of the Horde! Soldiers of the Forsaken! Hear me now!" He thrust his hammer forward and points to the copies that struggle to reform their line. "Destory them all!!!!" What am I becoming; will they listen?

((well, i'll see what i can do..))

Velexis, who thought Causis was gone, was disturbed at Causis' return, and even more so at his newfound voice. It had a slight pitch of demon over it, and had left no trace of his previous tone. Velexis, still slightly disgusted at the new Causis, chose to ignore his orders and instead go to Lethean whose voice she had heard just before Causis was struck down.

"Raaaaaaaaghhhh!!!" Causis charged as he saw that his comrades stood back. I don't blame them, I'm scared of myself. He crashed into the Voice copies and began to slice throught them with streaks of red power and his hammer. "I will redeem myself with these new powers! For the Forsaken!! The copies began to fly all over the hallway and smash into the walls. They began to dissapear and Causis was left to himself in the corridor. Then the Voice spoke from the abyss, "It seems we share the same plight, Causis of the Grey. Come forward to the antechamber, there you will see what you were unable to stop!" Causis then felt again the same feeling of when he was descending into the Void. Hoplessness filled his soul and his eyes returned to their previous yellow and his voice became the fatigued speech that has always served him well. He turned back to his soldiers and the adventurers that lay in the aftermath. He stands in awe and horror and stumbles forward a little but is stopped by a horrifying realization, I've betrayed the Light. He looks hoplessley to the adventurers, "Forgive me..." He then stares at his soldiers that stand as they were when fighting the copies. Some branch off the help the mercenaries up and out from under the rubble. A Forsaken captain approaches Causis patiently and sheathes her sword. "Don't worry Causis, so long as you don't betray us, you'll be fine." Causis gazes back to the heroes, "Light I hope they feel the same." The Voice is close, and vulnerable.

Holding her carefully, Lethean removed Neyira from the pile and set her down safely. He watched Velexis and a small group of the Forsaken soldiers approach, but paid them no attention. He stumbled over to where Neyira's forgotten runeblades lay, and bent down to pick them up.
Though they were not his, as he tightened his hands around Icegore's and Frosthowl's hilts, he could feel the connection with them; the same he had felt with Shadowfrost. Only, instead of embracing him, this connection shunned him and closed itself off to his soul. Feeling a sense of sorrow at both the reality of the situation and the knowing that he could not do this, he walked over back to Neyira and placed her runeblades next to her.
"Velexis," Lethean said as the paladin approached. "I have no idea how badly she might be injured; internally, and externally. You'll have to check her. I need to go speak with Causis for a moment."
He turned, azure eyes searching, until he found what he was looking for. A fallen Scourge soldier had been wielding a battle-worn flamberge. He grasped it, and with little difficulty, hoisted it up. He tested its weight and balance, and practiced a few test swings before feeling satisfied it would suit him until he could find a new runeblade.
He growled a few words, and a dark flash of unholy energy crept up his new blade. Any sign of wear was quickly repaired, and the blade retained an eerie green glow to it when he was done. He swung it again, and found it much more balanced than before. It'll have to do for now, he thought, then turned and began walking towards Causis.

Causis sat now before the captain and a few of the troopers. He perched himself on top of a pile of rubble and awaited Lethean's approach. As he waited he was terribly confused at the situation and pondered on whom gave him that power and why. He thought for a moment but rose as Lethean came closer to him; he sat his hammer to the side and faced the death knight. He peered into his eyes and saw something the Voice also possessed, an unreadable soul, intent. If I must die, so be it. But, by the Light, let them stop the Voice.
