Forsaken riders swooped from the zepplin toward the Alliance aviators. They wore goggles that were the color of a deep green, hoses hung from their masks that were the color black. The riders also wore bear coats whose hairs lifted in the wind. The riders mounted skeletal gryphons with dented armor across them. "For the Forsaken!" they screamed. Unlike the Alliance riders, the Forsaken used guns to shoot off their mount's backs. The zeppelin shot again toward the slowly falling vessel and the Alliance gunship was hit at it's stern. "Admiral! We have a wee bit of a problem!" screamed a dwarf deckhand. The gnome admiral looked down to the sound. A large hole encompassed the right side, where two of the cannons used to be. The admiral ignores the screaming crew and takes a spyglass to the enemy ship. "Mister Wrench! If you'd please!" From the admiral's cabin, below the wheel, a large robot took to the deck. It wizzed and turned, shaped as a large ball as it was. "Codename: Wrench. Online." The metal creation approached the damaged area and began to transform. After a few seconds the robot had become a set of cannons, each with four guns that would rotate for a constant rate of fire. The Alliance cannoneer teams manned the robot and began firing, fully trained in the weapon's use.
The Forsaken were near to engaging the Alliance riders when a hail of cannons shot past them. The Forsaken zeppelin retreated into the clouds with a trail of orange at it's back; the vessel had been hit. In response, the undead sent giant bats from behind the atmospheric barriers. These bats were the size of carriages and they were out for blood. The ships sought each other as the riders would engage each other in the skies above Icecrown.
"My lady!" screamed one of the crew members aboard the Forsaken zeppelin. A figure turns to the crew member from atop her bat. They sit on the edge and await turn to wreak havoc on the Alliance. "Causis said explicitly you weren't to engage Arinite alone should she haven taken the skies." The figure smirks from her large bat, "We made a promise that we'd safeguard the Grey Family. This is a promise we intend to keep, regardless of what he wants." Cheveyos descends into the winds.
Arinite flys along with the Alliance riders against the Forsaken on an Ebon Gryphon, "Stay close to me, and keep an eye out for those bats!"

the priest returned from the horde zeppelin with the rest of the alliance soldiers, none of them having taken any large amount of damage because of the Jonas handy work. he had exhausted himself in the fight, but nothing a good few minutes and a cup of tea wont fix he thought to himself, and headed below deck to find a tea set.

((just to not get stuck on the horde side))
the paladin sat down at the side and closed her eyes, before being approached by a couple of forsaken soldiers. she slowly opened her eyes "i hope this is very important" she said, putting more pressure than needed on 'very'. one of the forsaken said "i suppose there's nothing to be done with the Dark ranger?" "sorry, but there's nothing i can do to a person without a head. she's gone" she said, adding "now please let me rest" and closed her eyes again hoping to get some sleep before the scourge attacked again

    Lethean noticed the paladin's exhaustion.
After he had declared himself to aiding the Voice of Sylvanas, he had mingled amongst the other Forsaken troops, chatting silently and assisting in setting up temporary defences - Causis needed rest, meaning the Forsaken would not be able to launch their attack on the Forge of Souls quite yet.
The blood elf approached her silently, propped his runeblade up against the wall she was sitting against, and sat down beside her. He said nothing; merely watched her for a moment. She was resting, her emerald eyes closed. In a way, he almost felt an obligation to protect her through her rest, as she had already saved his life once. Though, he was careful with his actions, knowing that a paladin and a death knight would probably not get a long very well. Still, they had fought well together already, and if he could find out her weaknesses and strengths, her more powerful abilities and her weaker areas in her training, it would be easier to fight with her knowing her full capabilities. He would just have to wait and see how she would react when she awoke.

Meanwhile, on the Alliance gunship, Darren still stood, tossing fireballs and summoning miniature blizzards to assault the Forsaken forces. The bat riders were hard pressed, but still managed to survive through most of the young mage's attacks.
Suddenly, a thought occurred to Darren. They must have a magi of their own casting wards, he thought, finding a possible solution to the reason why almost four quarters of the Forsaken troops he cast his spells upon lived.
Amidst his thinking, he almost was hit by a crossbow bolt. The Kirin Tor wizard ducked, and the bolt whizzed past his head, impacting against the wooden frame of the gunship's cabin behind him. Darren gestured, muttering a spell, and the Forsaken attacker was polymorphed into a sheep. The small critter squealed in fear as it fell from its bat, and the trained undead bat hissed and dived towards Darren. He fumbled with the sword at his belt, but managed to get it drawn before the bat reached him. He swung upwards as the bat neared, and the tip of the sword caught the bat in the chest. Blood spurted from the wound, the spray hitting both the young wizard and the cabin frame and deck. The bat's wings stopped flapping, and Darren thrust up, plunging the sword deeper into the bat's chest. Bones cracked as the tip poked through the bat's back, and Darren swung down, loosing the bat's body from his blade. The corpse bounced once and slid off the deck, leaving a massive trail and spray of crimson blood a long its path.
"Now that that is taken care of," Darren murmured, sheathing his sword. He raised both his hands, palms facing upward, and called forth fire.
A spell he had used before, that had served him well. Flames appeared and swirled about the young wizard's hands. Just as suddenly, the deck of the distant Forsaken zeppelin was immolated, fires popping up and igniting in various spots, catching some Forsaken troopers in the small blaze as well. Satisfied that it would keep them busy for a while - he knew it would not destroy the zeppelin, nor kill the entire attacking force off - he turned, and quickly scanned the deck of the Alliance gunship. Some of the Alliance soldiers were wounded, but nothing too serious. The ship had taken a bit of a beating, but it would survive.
Darren took a step forward, then cried out and fell to one knee. He placed his hand on his left side, and it came back wet with blood. A blaze of pain shot up along his leg and through his chest, and he then realised that the bat had managed to ravage his side before he had dealt the killing blow. In less than a minute, the entire side of his battle-mage garb was red and wet, and the pain was excruciating. A thought dimly reached him as he doubled over in pain on the deck, the wood beneath him turning red: Wounding poison.

the young priest in the gunships cabbin heard the battle rage above him, hurried with getting his water boiling for the tea, then went up. he saw a mage bleeding from his side, not knowing the cause of the wound. he quickly spoke some words and balls of light surged from his hand into the mage, healing his wound little by little. the priest then called forth holy fire to damage his enemies, while empowering them with holy barriers to protect them from further harm. still exhausted from the fight on the horde zeppelin, he wasn't as hit full potential, but managed to safe more than a few people, most likely including the mage, from their deaths.

the paladin heard someone sitting down besides her, but chose to ignore it for the moment if it's important, he can wake me up she thought to herself and went back to her sleep. after a couple of seconds however, she could feel his unholy powers and knew it was the Death knight from earlier, realising he might want to strike up a conversation, she calmly said "any particular reason you're sitting next to me Lethean? or just want some rest aswell?"

Darren felt the healing energies envelop him, and he embraced the warmth they emanated. His pain slowly disappeared, and he could almost feel the torn wound stitch itself back up. The effects of the poison slowly wore off, and within a few minutes, Darren found he could move again.
He slowly sat up, and saw the amount of blood he had lost, stained the wooden deck. His robes were still soaked with blood, but the wound itself was gone. Darren sent out a prayer to whoever had healed him, and quickly jumped to his feet, for the first time noticing the barriers of holy energy protecting him and the others as the Forsaken bat riders attacked ceaselessly.
Darren saw the human priest, and cast a spell on him, giving him a protective armour of frost. Satisfied, Darren turned, and with renewed vigour began casting fireballs and other numerous spells at the bat riders, determined to throw them off and destroy them.

"No . . . no rest," Lethean said, in answer to Velexis's question. "Merely curious at your state of health."
After a moment, he spoke again. "You fought well earlier. It's not every day that I find a suitable companion in someone . . . especially a paladin. I must ask . . . you are adept at combat, but you seemed more at ease at the borders of the battle, healing wounds and mending injuries. You are a holy paladin, correct?" He stroked his runeblade beside him. Every time his mailed hand touched one of the runes, they flared brightly for a moment. Then, as his hand moved away, the light they emanated dimmed.

Causis sat before the Voice attempting to heal his wound. He held his hand over his chest and emitted a holy light, hoping the incision would cease to cause him such discomfort. The arrow's entrance seemed to paralyze him in places, he couldn't get up or use his legs. The Voice of Sylvanas was holding the arrow, examining it for any signs of what magic was keeping the paladin on the ground. The arrow was an emerald hue, transparent to violet strains of color, likely poison that had failed to enter along with it's bretheren. "Causis, it seems you've been afflicted with an arcane disrupting agent." said the Voice. "Seeing as you have no flowing blood, instead what sustains you is arcane energies. This arrow, it seems is meant to block that flow to what ever part of the body it hits. Undead should fear this weapon." Causis struggled to lift himself to a sitting position before the robed figure, "Can you do anything? My healing abilities don't seem to do much." The Voice peered down to Causis, "I believe a knight of the Ebon Blade would be able to help. They're adept at this form of magical warfare." The voice turns to the two blood elves, resting on the terrace's edge, "Good thing we have one so close by." He motions for Lethean to come to him.
Arinite and her riders swoop towards the Forsaken bats in the skies above Icecrown. She casts frost bolts and maipulates the shards of ice that lay in the clouds. Shots from guns could be heard as the forces engage one another. The Forsaken bat and gryphon riders create a set of lines behind clouds, on over the other, to create a wall so none can get through. They fire toward the advancing Alliance and groups of them fall to the Earth. "Lady Arinite, watch out!" screams a rider. Arinite turns from the battle and spots a tremendously large bat attack her from a nearby cloud formation. The beast screams as it's blown out of the sky by gunfire. "We have your back!"
The riders continuied the assault, using mobility against the Forsaken's wall. They used the clouds as cover as they aligned their shots. Many however were found by bats and would have little time to react. Arinite begins to channel a blizzard spell from behind some of the Wildhammer dwarves. Just then her gryphon begins to feel heavier. She halts the spell and looks behind her. A skeletal hand reaches up to lift it's owner unto the mount. An undead woman appears on Arinite's gryphon, "I take it, you're Arinite." The woman crawls madly towards the mage, "For Lordaeron!"

Lethean saw the Voice of Sylvanas gesture, and looked at the paladin. "My apologies; I'll return momentarily." He sat up, his runeblade held loosely in his right hand, and approached the Voice and a now-awakened Causis. He bowed to the Voice, and noticed Causis attempting to heal his wound.
"My lord," Lethean said, straightening. He saw that the Voice held a vicious-looking arrow in his hand. The robed figure seemed to be inspecting it. Now that Lethean looked closer, he could see the curious making of the small bolt. "This is the arrow that struck Causis, then, hmm? May I see it?"
Lethean took the arrow, holding it carefully in his left hand, and looked at it more closely. "Of course . . . I have seen these before. My own brothers and sisters - dark skeletal rangers - have used these types of poisons before. Normally, they coat the tips of their saronite arrows with these. Though the agent is deadly to the living - it completely destroys their mentality and shuts down the central nervous system - it is critical to undead. The effects of the arrow are permanent unless treated within forty-eight hours of sustaining the wound."
Lethean handed the arrow back to the Voice, and then he noticed that both the Voice and Causis were looking at him pointedly. "I have received some training in the area of healing such wounds. However, I must warn you, Causis, that the spells I would use are not in any way guaranteed to work. They are also of the most unholy magic - something I happen to be well affiliated with. If you wish me to, I can attempt to heal the wound. It does not take long, unlike most paladin rituals, but it will be painful."

Darren finished casting a fireball, then noticed Arinite come under assault by an undead woman, who seemed to be desperate in her attempt to catch Arinite. The Forsaken woman was crawling on the side of Arinite's gryphon, reaching for her.
"No!" Darren cried, reaching out with his hands. Arcane missiles shot from his hand, but at the last minute, Darren stopped and redirected them, instead striking down a team of Forsaken bat riders.
I can't hit her with my spells without striking Arinite or her mount as well, Darren thought to himself, worry clawing at him. But I can't just stand around and watch her die, either!
Then do something, a voice inside his head snapped, and the realization that he was not at all helpless to assist slapped him in the face. Quickly, he ran to find a gryphon.
Minutes later, he returned, flying from the gunship on the back of one of the great golden beasts, heading straight towards Arinite's mount - accompanied by her mysterious attacker, of course. Using his right hand, he held on tightly to the gryphon's reins, steering and directing the beast towards Arinite.
In his left hand, Darren held his sword, still bloodstained from his previous encounter with the Forsaken bat.

((Darced, more room between the Horde and alliance part of your post (#90) please it's confusing))
the paladin, slightly annoyed by having been awoken, walked up to the Death knight, Causis and the Voice. "i'm merely here to observe" she said, waiting to respond to Letheans question untill both of them had more time.

the young priest had noticed Arinite being attacked by what appeard to be a human figure traitor perhaps? possibly a newly ressurected forsaken he thought to himself, jumping onto a gryphon and flying to her help. when he was in the air he noticed several Arcane missiles flying towards them only to be directed away at the last second, he then noticed the mage who had fired them, flying slightly to his left, just out of his field of vision before. Jonas flew to the side of Arinites gryphon the undead had landed on, engulfed Arinite in and her gryphon in a barrier to stop any other attacks i can't attack the undead when she's hanging onto the gryphon like that, i might hit Arinite or the gryphon he thought to himself, preparing mentally for what he thought would be the worst case scenario, besides Arinites death, being the death of her gryphon, and prepared to summon the light to guide Arinite's soul and body to his gryphon.

Lethean nodded at the paladin. "As you wish," he said, meeting her gaze for a moment before turning back to Causis. "What do you say, Causis?" he asked, gesturing towards the wound. "Shall I attempt to heal it, or would you prefer some one else . . . ?" He let the question trail off, carefully modulating his voice.

Darren saw the priest ride up beside him, and made a note that perhaps, together, they could work out a plan to both save Arinite and kill the Forsaken attacker.
"Got anything up your sleeve, priest?" he yelled, flying beside Jonas. "Besides blowing them out of the sky with a well-placed fireball? Or, I suppose in your case, holy energy?"

"well mage, if you can hit the undead or gryphon i can pull her over to my gryphon.." hopefully he said, thinking the last part of it, not really being sure of his ability to pull someone spirit first, it was something he had only thought possibly and started preparing for before leaving for icecrown.

Causis looked to Lethean, a beacon of evil stood before him. He thought to himself that being allowed to be put under one of these rituals would be an abomination. He looked to the Voice and was about to object, but a sharp glance from the Voice and his red eyes told him You swore to defend Lordaeron, even if it compromised your salvation. He thought back to the day when Sylvanas rose him from the grave those few years ago. Directed by the only friendly face he had seen he swore everything to Sylvanas and her Forsaken. He felt that same feeling of sorts, with the Voice. Truly he was her will incarnate. He extended his hand toward the death knight. "Heal me please. I'll atone for this by defending my people and the virtues of the Light. Whatever the cost." The Voice looks to Lethean and allows a glimpse of the crimson eyes, "Do what you must, Knight of the Ebon Blade."

Arinite struggles to free herself from the embrace of the attacker. "Get off my gryphon you undead bitch!!" she screams as she lands a kick to the assilant's face. The firgure's head twists around slightly and she stops. The head slowly returns to it's position and stares into Arinite's eyes. "We won't be the only ones for long!" Cheveyos then takes out a dagger from her belt and stabs the gryphon's wing. The beast screams and the three descend quickly into the dark Icecrown winter.

((Sorry about that Mehman, is this better?))

    ((much better))

Velexis was slightly suprised at how easily Causis was accepting the ritual, knowing full well a paladin wouldn't accept to such unholy meassures unless fully needed. she figured Causis had something up his sleave, besides defending his people as an atonement, possibly a promise to someone? she thought to herself

Jonas noticed the gryphons quick descend, and did his best with his limited training, pulling Arinites soul out of her body to his gryphon, her body following right after, to envelop her spirit once again when she was at the back of his gryphon. almost slipping out of conciousness for a moment when he had done it, i wont do that again any time soon. atleast not till i've had my tea and some sleep he thought to himself and steered the gryphon back towards the gunship so he could rest.

Darren watched Jonas's spell in fascination, and could actually feel the power emanating from it. He was truly surprised at how well the priest's spell worked, and was pleased with the results. He saw Arinite's gryphon swiftly descending, screaming madly in pain, with the Forsaken woman still clinging to it. A sudden urge hit Darren, and though he tried his best to ignore it, he couldn't.
Light damn me, he growled to himself in his head, and drove his gryphon downwards to catch the falling beast. As much as it pained him to, Darren quickly cast a spell at the injured gryphon, which effectively used arcane magic to stop its heart, immediately putting it out of its misery.
Now that he could think clearly, he fired a weak arcane blast at the Forsaken woman, knocking her from the falling gryphon's corpse and sending her into unconsciousness. Darren's gryphon swooped downwards, and Darren caught her easily. Knowing the gryphon would support him, Darren turned in his saddle and secured the Forsaken woman to the seat, still hearing some inner voice in his head screaming at him for his stupidity. Though he still flew up, following Jonas back to the gunship, unsure of what he would do next; whether he would have to fight his way to Icecrown Citadel, or something else he hadn't thought of yet.

((XD, just to make things interesting.))

Lethean nodded at Causis's acceptance of his ritual, and set his runeblade, Shadowfrost, up against the wall beside Causis.
"As I mentioned before," he said, removing his gauntlets and smoothing his hair back, "this is going to be quite painful. Though you are Forsaken, and therefore less susceptible to pain, it still cause you great agony." He looked to the Voice, and to Velexis. "I will require both of you to step back, if you would."
Once they had done so, Lethean rose, towering over Causis's wounded form. He stretched out his hands, muttering several words in the Scourge tongue. Just as eerily, dark runes of pulsing black, red and green appeared, forming a ring around Causis's body. With each word Lethean growled, they seemed to flare up and grow brighter and brighter. Causis cried out as agony flared up through his body; burning hot flames that seared him on the inside. Lethean's chanting grew louder, as did the runes' light, and Causis's pain. Dark, shadowy tendrils crawled up from the ground, emitting a foul aura, and snaked over Causis's form, fully enveloping him. They seemed to dig into his somewhat-cauterized wound, and Causis arched his back in pain, crying out. Lethean ignored him, pressing harder. A nearby Forsaken soldier suddenly screamed, as the rotting flesh quickly dissolved and fell from his skeleton. As this happened, his skeleton itself also began to melt. A ball of energy, glowing a sickly green, slowly made its way from the puddle that was once a Forsaken soldier. It dove into Causis, immediately silencing his cries of agony. Lethean continued to press, and within moments the tendrils disappeared, evaporating into a dark black mist before fully dissolving. With one final cry, dark balls of purple, unholy energy shot from his hands, striking Causis's chest, directly on the wound. Causis gave one last cry of agony, then fell still. Lethean dropped his hands, and the runes beneath Causis's limp form were dismissed. The blood elf staggered to Causis, and propped the Forsaken's body up against the wall. He then turned, and limped towards another Forsaken, who was curious at the death knight's approach. He then screamed as Lethean placed a hand on the Forsaken soldier's chest, absorbing the undead's life force. When he was done, the soldier dropped, and Lethean stood up straight, a grin on his face. He returned to Causis, retrieved his gauntlets, and placed them on his hands. He looked apologetic to the Voice. "He won't be missed; trust me," he said, referring to the Forsaken he had just killed. Lethean grabbed Shadowfrost, and nodded towards Cuasis. "Give him an hour of rest; if you look, the wound is gone. When he returns to consciousness, he will be perfectly well and capable of leading our attack."
With his strength returned, Lethean walked over to where Velexis was previously resting, sat, and found a medium-sized stone. He began sharpening Shadowfrost, fully aware of the gazes that followed his every action - many of which (the gazes, of course) were now suspicious and wary.

Jonas, once returned to the alliance gunship, went below deck to drink his tea, ignoring how hot it was, and then fell into a deep slumber. his previous mentors visiting him in his dreams telling him of his stupidity, for actions not yet commited. he looked down on the world and it was set ablaze, their voices chanting "why did you forget us? why did you forget your home Jonas?" Jonas banished the nightmare with ease.

Velexis was slightly suprised by the dramatic effect the Death knights ritual had had on the forsaken soldiers, but sat down next to the Death knight. "yes, i am a Holy paladin" she said in response to his earlier question, "i merely carry a sword for those times where.. voilence.. is needed" she said, slightly uncomfortable saying the word 'Violence'. she closed her eyes and looked around the room with The Light as her eyes, seeing everyones anger, suprise, and even hatred for the Death knight, only two people didn't show either of those feelings, The Voice and Causis himself, both of which showed gratitudes towards the death knight, if even a little repulsed by his methods.

Lethean nodded in understanding. "Yes . . . violence . . . something even I must admit this world has seen quite enough of. Sadly, it will always be present . . . feeding off the fear, hatred and animosity of all of Azeroth's inhabitants."
He paused, sharpening Shadowfrost, not looking at Velexis. The sound of the stone scraping on cold, hard saronite was the only sound heard, other than the various mutterings of the Forsaken and other Horde mercenaries around them, at both him and about the two Forsaken he had slain during the ritual. Finally, he spoke again. "I know that I have now most likely made myself a particularly un-wanted addition to our forces - mainly because of my methods." His eyes flared brightly, and for a moment, his vision went red a bit at some unknown fury. He was not sure why he was suddenly angry, but he didn't care. "I will cut my way through the Scourge to find Sevenvoids. I care not who dies, or who falls behind me, or beneath my sword. If the Forsaken don't care for my presence, then they can go to hell. I will hold the same statement against anyone who feels that way."
He finished his outburst, momentarily surprised. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath - not that it was technically required - and sat cross-legged. He tossed away the stone he had been using to sharpen Shadowfrost, and placed the runeblade in his lap. "My apologies . . . that was uncalled for." he said at Velexis's look of surprise. "It's a long story . . . one I fear we have no time for, with Causis's soon recovery."

((In my next post, if Causis isn't fully healed yet, I'll give some insight on Lethean's history. Think of it as a sneak peak.))

When Darren returned to the gunship, he landed his gryphon, and hopped out of the saddly. Carefully, he retrieved the Forsaken woman, and placed her on the deck. She was still unconscious - as she would be for some time. Immediately, Darren received many looks from the various Alliance soldiers and mercenaries around him; looks of fury, disgust, and shock. Without explaining, Darren scooped up the Forsaken woman, who weighed much less than he had thought she would, and carried her below deck. After some searching, he found the young priest whom had saved Arinite's live, and dropped the Forsaken girl beside him.
What . . . he's sleeping?! Darren thought to himself, disgusted. Why in the name of Dalaran would he be sleeping while we're under attack! "Wake up," Darren snapped, nudging the priest in the side with the toe of his boot. The priest stirred but did not wake. "Up, damn you," Darren growled, nudging him harder. "I need your help."
    The priest did not move.
Growling deep in the back of his throat, Darren walked around, trying to find something, anything, to assist him. He wasn't sure if the Forsaken was injured or hurt, or if his spell had done more damage than just knocking her out. After two minutes of a fruitless search, Darren snarled, returning to her. The priest was still sleeping soundly, snoring softly.
Light be damned, he thought with another growl of frustration.

the priest awoken to find the undead next to him, almost jumping to his feet out of suprise, still incredibly tired from his spell, he was in no condition to fight, but found that the forsaken wasn't awake. he noticed the mage standing next to the bed, having heard what was said to him even through his sleep, he replied "that spell took a huge amount of energy to pull off, i'm glad i didn't fall unconcious after it. and please, please, dont put an undead next to me again.. they're unnatural beings, who shouldn't exist" he said with no real knowledge of their true back story, but was correct in assuming it unholy.

"i dont see Causis waking for a long time if i got the power of your spell right Lethean, and you can always start on it." Velexis said ignoring his outburst, knowing full well that such things were more common than not among death knights and warriors alike, pretty much the only thing they shared besides their love for big weapons. she picked up a rock nearby and sharpened her blade a little, in case it was needed later on.
