So they can concentrate on what they are good at, single player content, and let people who know how MMOs work do it. Beth isn't about to go BioWare and try something new with a popular IP.

Ehhhh... wtf..... don't want... I love the Elder Scrolls but I'm so not down for this ._.

I hope this doesn't take away from their other productions like Fallout 4/The next Elder Scrolls Game.

Also could they have picked a worse villain? Molag Bal, lord of destruction and king of rape... that just screams stereotypical villain -.-"

Sounds like an attempt to cash in on the popularity of Bethesda's games. Something tells me you won't actually know it's bad sides until you buy it, just like another recent cash-in.
Players will no longer randomly suffer falling damage.

Well, to be fair we haven't seen a game running with a completed version yet. SWToR was using a modified beta version of the engine, and they have made some great improvements to it since its rocky launch (performance wise). I'm actually curious to see what what the completed version can offer.

Their only publishing it and its set 1000 years in the past so that will allow them to continue the elder scrolls story through single player games without effecting the MMO.

I hope it goes live just because it will let us explore ALL of tamriel for once. I find it so annoying being pretty much a demi-god but being confined to one province of the world.

lol, Bethesda have enough problems with the bugs in their single player Elder Scrolls games, I can only imagine what the beta for this MMO is going to be like...

Yeah but it'll be a lower quality complete world...I'd rather each individual game be in one really polished, really stunning and detailed province, rather than an entire world that's just meh.

It seems as if you're basing your "everybody hates the idea of this game" opinion on all the negative feedback. Yet, if you look through these 25 or so pages you'll see that it's really just 15-20 butthurt fanboys posting over and over about how sad they are. QQ. You dont like the game, dont buy it. Simple as that.

Flawed logic, really. Surely a niche title should be...well, catered to the fans of the series above all else? Initially, that is what made WoW stand out so prominently - it was catered mostly to the fans of the Warcraft RTS games.

  15. #495
What's the point of calling it Elder Scrolls Online if it's nothing like any Elder Scrolls game? This will be another MMO that either shuts down after a year or has mediocre subs for 5 years THEN shut down

I think I would rather just have a new Elder Scrolls with limited co-op added in. Like 3-4 players in the same game would be really cool.

I really don't mind combat changing because I always thought that Elder Scrolls combat was clunky, and more or less the least exciting thing about the game. But in an MMO you really limit all of the things that make the Elder Scrolls the "Elder Scrolls" otherwise you just make the game absolutely insane.

What makes me saddest is ESO was probably the "second project" that Bethesda had been reportedly working on. While the first ended up being Skyrim, I just figured that the other should be Fallout 4.

This could mean 2014 or 2015 before we'll get another Fallout.

It's a separate team working on it. ZeniMax Online was created specifically for the MMO (they've been working on it for years now and the studio was founded in 2007). While I'm sure that the ES team is lending support with some guidance, they haven't been pulled off their projects to work on this as far as we know.

I sure hope not. Ever since playing Skyrim I've been pondering what that could mean for Fallout 4.

Exactly, it sounds like it's an attempt to return to the days of Dark Age of Camelot - while still being "teh bestest MMO EVA!!!".
