    Ssd

I plan to upgrade my PC the day SSD has 1 TB for a reasonable price (about twice of todays 1 TB HDD) so I don't need to buy HDD and SSD like people do nowadays. The question is how long it will take? Is it the case of just it becoming more popular like DVD or is the technology really complex so there is not a big chance of the costs dropping that much.

You are looking at an SSD the wrong way entirely, it will never be like this certainly not in the next 20 years.

SSDs will most likely never be available in that capacity, at high speeds and long lifespan, without a huge technological advance either... high up tech people already think SSDs have hit their wall.

It's going to be within the next 5 years, reasonable price? Probably, depends on how the competition between the companies. (Corsair, Kingston, Crucial etc)
