Well after a long while I've finally got enough gold to level a second profession purely for dps, if you have any suggestions they'd be welcome.

tailoring..best dps enchantment for casters..
or enchanting..
yes tailoring is the highest dps profession for spellcasters due to the 550+ int proc off the cloak.
I run Tailor/JC and perfectly happy with it.
You can't go wrong with tailoring next to enchanting. Go for it.
Why do people keep saying tailoring is the best? If this were to proc immediately every time it gives you 95 int over the standard enchant. But it doesn't proc immediately, in reality after parsing logs I was getting around 89 int, slightly less than other proffs. Plus you have no control over it, so many times you pop combust that receives no benefit from your crafting profession. Engineering, however, is an on use that you can stack with combustion or arcane power. Blacksmithing gives you 100 int in the way of epic gems, but this is a limited oversight Blizzard just doesn't want to deal with and it won't be this way going into MOP. Both of these are slightly more DPS than tailoring. However neither one will make a noticeable difference in your logs.
Bottom line is all of the crafting professions give you just about 90 int. You should pick the 2 crafting professions you feel give you the best quality of life, whether it's extra flask times (alchemy), performing your own gemcutting and enchanting, crafting items to sell (blacksmithing, tailoring, leatherworking), not having to buy expensive wrist enchants (leatherworking), not having to grind shoulder rep - probably moot at this point - and selling glyphs (inscription), the ease of leveling enchanting and tailoring together, or maybe you just like the engineering toys. These professions offer more than this small list of benefits, research and pick the ones YOU want.
Enchanting gives 80 main stat.
BS gives 100 Main stat (with full epic gems) or 80 with rare gems
JC gives 81 with rare gems and 51 if you are full epic gemmed
LW gives +80 main stat to bracers.
Inscription gives +80 to shoulders.
Tailoring gives around 90 Int average
So where is the proffesions gives about 90 stats?
Best atm is Tailoring and Blacksmithing or maybe engineering and BS, But in the end it dont really matter the minor increase you get will not make or brake a fight atm. during progression its different.
Personally i go with tailoring and enchanting and beeing a sexy Dwarf(yes i know i could get a 600 ish DPS increase of going to worgen but they are fugly..)
You're right, I had 90 in my head for some reason but most of them are in fact 80. For raw DPS increase however I think Engineering is too often overlooked, stacking it with a combustion could be very powerful. Blacksmithing is currently the best as you've stated, but I can now see why people have said tailoring in the past.
It's still my opinion profession perks outweigh the small increase, we're talking about 10 or 20 int when your total int in raid gear is over 1600. Still that's up to the OP to decide for himself. Thank you for correcting my error![]()
Enchanting is the best I think
Engineering is very good with fire, then you can plan your combustions with glove enchant to maximise your combustion.
*edit: Didn't see rokk's post*
Asayu - Frost Mage PvP.
Method (Casual) - Twisting Nether EU
stacking tailoring enchant with start hero + insignia(not arcane) + other procs is pretty strong combo for both fire and arcane..
But in the end clear winners are tailoring and BS, followed by engineering if timed right
