    Isn't that the non-corrupted Ashbringer?

    Sorry that was already said

I particularly love how people are rationalizing about a visual effect, and most certainly having a lore logic discussion......after this thread can you guys start one explaining the lore-logic rationalizations of dragons in your mailbox? k thanks

Proof that the mmochamp community can be a bitter and lonely place. What a shame.

When you call upon the light, you don't call upon anything else, not the sword and certainly not metal. I don't know why they chose to give Paladins a temporary Ashbringer, but in my eyes, it doesn't make more sense than Death Knights wielding a temporary Frostmourne.
Ashringer is the embodiment of pure Light. The orb part of the blade is what makes it thus.

During the assault on Blackrock Spire in the Second War, Highlord Mograine of the Silver Hand claimed a mysterious dark crystal from a dead orc warlock. The crystal was the "living embodiment of shadow," and originated from Draenor. Upon touching it, Mograine's hand became tainted, It transformed into a hand like undead that could not be healed.

Mograine kept the crystal a secret until the first whispers of the Scourge reached Lordaeron. He revealed it to the other leaders of the Silver Hand, suggesting that they search for the crystal's polar opposite — a manifestation of the Holy Light itself — to be used against the impending undead holocaust. Mograine's peers, appalled at the sight of this dark crystal, attempted to destroy it with a holy spell. Unexpectedly, the crystal absorbed the spell and became its antithesis, the very crystal of pure light that Mograine suggested moments before. It was decided that from this crystal a weapon would be forged that would smite the undead with such power that only a cloud of ash would remain in its wake — The Ashbringer.

Mograine and Fairbanks traveled to Ironforge, where King Magni Bronzebeard forged the blade himself upon The Great Anvil, infusing it with rage and vengeance for his brother Muradin Bronzebeard whom was believed to have fallen before Frostmourne.

It isn't corrupted until Renault kills Alexandros with it, then cleansed when Darion throws it at Tirion.

Ashbringer is a sword attached to a light cycle Crystal, apparently that shard Mograine retrieved was in fact a Naaru, and a pretty badass one to boot. (So killing any of those pathetic random ones who sit around in Shatt doint nothing wouldn't really give you a good fighting stick)

In other words, as long as you slap the original thing (floating medallion in the case of the sword-forge) into something = as good as the original Ashbringer.

The body and or the hilt are pretty much the only thing different with it.

I don't think it is. I know the story behind the sword, but if you remove the crystal, the sword becomes a simple piece of metal. And that's what it is, a weapon infused with light, not it's embodiment or manifestation.

The same can be said about Frostmourne. Without the Lich King, it's just a simple piece of metal.
So I never understood why people wanted the sword to drop from him in the first place. Just for looks?

Nope. Vampiric rune blades are aware, and have a consciousness. They all have. When their bearer dies, they go and look for another, choosing him and then slowly corrupting him. I'm not sure you can say these things are alive, but they do have a mind of their own.

    To add to this: http://www.wowpedia.org/Vampiric_runeblade

The sources are pretty legit too, the way it's described they do seem to have a mind of their own.

Doesnt Fit, Muradin hadnt been in Northrend at this time. In game in, Escape from Durnhold, You can see them discussing the orb and purifying it. You can see Young Blanche and everything. Magani wouldnt have need to avenge Muradin as he hasnt yet even been to Northrend. I mean, Thrall was literally just escaping Durnhold when these guys were talking about the orb and purifing it.

I don't, the weapon enchants like landslide that other people have to use completely mess up how weapons look. Except for razorice ours dont really obscure any weapon graphics meaning we get almost all the looks of the weapon in question.

Plus stuff like landslide and power torrent look (on most weapons) completely stupid.

It's proper Ashbringer, anyone *could* get Corrupted Ashbringer from level 60 Naxx on 4 Horsemen (unless I'm mistaken?) Corrupted had a glowing green skull thing, proper ashbringer has a yellow/white/cream glowing orb
    Behold the pale horse.

Im not entirely sure if the Graphic Novels are considered cannon. The RPG ones are not, and anything in game is typically considered cannon. So the fact your escorting Thrall to safety, as these gentlemen purify the orb, shows Arthas is probably just a little boy swinging a wooden stick over at some Silver Hand daycare.
