you really want a AMD build?

just asking cause some people prefer AMD and others like intel i've only ever went with intel cause of what i read and benchmarks/reviews.

can get a pretty good build for a 1200$ budget but are you just using this for gaming?

also i see your location is calgary is there a site you rather use to order from?

With that budget ditch everything but the HDD and PSU. Small upgrades will only bring small benefits.

Don't need, as the OP already has exactly same HDD.

Plenty of money left in the budget for much better card.

Assuming you're reusing the HDD, PSU and case. If not, these three are the one's I recommend:
HDD: 500GB Western Digital Caviar Black/Blue
PSU: Seasonic M12II Modular 520W PSU
Case: Fractal Design Arc midi or Corsair 400R

No point in taking 2550K over the 2500K, only change is that you lose the integrated graphics which may be useful in some cases, for an example if your GPU breaks.

He already has a HDD; no point in buying a new one.

If i were you, i'd keep the ram+hdd+case and update these items in.

    MoBo: Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H – $170
    CPU: Intel i5 2500k – $220
    GPU: Gigabyte Radeon 7950 – $420
    PSU: Seasonic M2II 650W – $120
    Heatsink: Thermaltake Frio – $52
    SSD: 128GB: Crucial M4 128GB – $160
    =1142$ From newegg.

This beast would run everything at max graphs!

ebah, I would not go with that to be honest. Z68 mobo when you can get a Z77, getting a PSU with more power than needed, but not enough to SLi in the future. Also, why not add $8 over the Frio to get a Havik?

OP, do you have Windows key for the machine you'll be getting?
