    W.E.I. is stupid

I got 7.9 score on everything except my processor...an i5 2500k @ 4635 MHz. it gave me a 7.5 on that. How is that possible? Unless they just updated what it deems a high score based on the ivy bridge i7 processors... but still it's an impressive air-cooled over clock

Directly from the WEI information part on your PC.

"The scores currently range from 1.0 to 7.9. The Windows Experience Index is designed to accommodate advances in computer technology. As hardware speed and performance improve, higher score ranges will be enabled."

Seeing as your 0.4 off the maximum available range right now, that's pretty good.

I'm really not sure why this matters at all, but consult Microsoft if you're really that concerned.
Waaaaah this guy was mean to me! Waaaaaaaaah!

    I'm mean because you're stupid.

I don't even get 7.9 with my CPU at 5.4GHz. Pretty sure it takes an Intel 6 core to get 7.9. WEI is kind of a worthless show of performance though.

4 cores is the reason. 6 core CPU would probably score 7.9, or a motherboard with two CPUs. WEI is not a realiable measure of anything, don't pay too much attention to it.

I got 7,6 on a 2500k @ 4,2Ghz the 2nd of March, 7,9 on RAM and Graphics (XMS3 @ 1600Mhz, 560Ti Twin Frozr II). My primary disk drive only scored 5,5, since I use an old HDD for Windows/Programs, and keep my M4 strictly for games.

Now that I think about it, I'm surprised my 560Ti scored 7,9.

I've had a friend with a Q6600@4.0GHz get a score of like 7.6.... so WEI is definitely not something to be even remotely worried about.

My memory sits at 7.8. When I OC'd to 4.8 my Processor is 7.8, right now since I typically run 4.6 its 7.7. Also, just got an SSD so its 7.9 for everything else now.

But yeah, WEI isn't a very useful stat, especially since the number will actually change as products come out.

Way to finally get an SSD - which one? I believe all SSDs get 7.9, or at least all SATA III SSDs, while 7200RPM HDDs get 5.9, if I recall right. Or something in that neighborhood.

    7.7 on 2500k CPU @ 4.6Mhz

  18. #18
I've read somewhere that, to get 7.9 on your processor you need to have it on 5.6ghz OC'd or something, pretty much impossible for standard use

The only good thing about W.E.I. is that fact that it lets windows recognize that you have an SSD, and disables defragging for it!

    Sometimes mine gets a 7.8, sometimes a 7.9.

    WEI isn't really useful.
    2600k @4.5GHz also gets a 7.8, though 4.8 is faster :P
