    Building a Budget Gaming/Recording PC

So I am in a few months going to be building a new PC because I am sick of these Wal-mart laptops for 500$ barely running D3. (Or not running any other game)

I have a budget of around 600-700USD I am trying to scale down my pricing a bit to save some cash this is what I have so far

    (All from Newegg)

    1TB HDD - 139.99$
    Cooling Case 60$
    ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard - 121$
PC Power and Cooling Silencer MK III 500W Modular - 80$
    ntel Core i3-2120 Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz LGA 1155 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 2000 BX80623I32120 - 125$
    2x4GB Ram - 42$
    DVD Burner - 18$

I feel as if I could go cheaper with the case, I also may want to get an external drive (1TB) for recordings.

Are you able to obtain the operating system for cheap or free?

Looks pretty solid to me. However, I would spend 5 more bucks and get faster ram. Since I just made the account I cannot post links, but the model is

    G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL for 46.99

    I'd rather recommend Patriot's stuff.

This is just silly. What I linked was essentially identical. What you've linked has a pretty heatsink, which serves no purpose in Sandy Bridge computers.

I should be getting the OS for free. Thanks for the suggestions of RAM I will look into it. How well do you think that I-3 will hold up for rendering footage, I don't need a highly animated movie rendered in 10 minutes in 1080p but I would like it to be fairly fast.

I have heard that the new AMD APU (CPU + GPU) are not bad for the price. You can then pair it with another graphics card from the 6000 model to get what the call "dual graphics" which when together work very well. The reviews when having those two together have been really good, people are saying that they can run WOW on ultra, ME3 and Skyrim very well too.

Also, I found some ram that is 2x4GB like yours except that they run at 2133mhz same brand and everything just about 10 dollars more.

That said... My suggestion about a rig.

    From newegg.com
    Case: Fractal Design Core 1000
    PSU: Corsair CX 500
    GPU: Powercolor HD 7770
    Mobo: MSI H61M-P20
    RAM: Patriot Signature 1600MHz @ 1.5, 8GB (4GB x2)
    CPU + HDD: Intel i3 2100 + Spinpoint F3 1TB (combodeal)
    OS: Windows 7 64-bit

    Total: $635

    PSU: SeaSonic M12II 620 - $70 (slightly better PSU for $10 less)
    Motherboard: ASRock Z75 Pro3 - $100
Case: NZXT Source 210 Elite Black - $50 (USB 3.0 front and $10 less, personal preference of course)

I assume you need a GPU as well?

GPU: MSI R6870 Twin Frozr II Radeon HD 6870 - $180 ($20 MIR)

With the rest of your choices that should be a total of $695 (all from NewEgg).

You'll have absolutely zero problems running D3 at max and still be able to play other games as well, the motherboard is ready for a CPU in the future and either a new GPU or a second 6870. The PSU should even be able to handle it.

This oozes with questionable material. I'll have to get back to whether or not AMD APUs are a good idea for OP, because my internet at this exact moment is made of bullshit, but I can say very honestly say that those 10 bucks aren't worth dropping into the RAM.

Well when in dual graphics I heard you can watch 1080p videos pretty easily, but yeah I've been wanting to do upgrade my 5 year computer with those parts because of the price to performance and why don't you think the 10 bucks are worth it? I really don't know that much about computers and what not just that the difference in MHZ would help would in not??

I'd recommend you look at something better than that (read my first post). If you stick with the 6770 you can either just save the money or buy a better CPU, an i5-2500k ($205).
