    Recommendations on new System

    Hi guys,
I'm currently putting together a new system that will be used mainly for work (programming in Visual Studio & Database programming) and for playing WoW & Diablo 3. I already have a 24" LCD running at 1920 X 1200 resolution. My budget is around $2000 AUD and this is what I come up with from scorptec for $1960 including assembly:

    Intel Core i5 3570K
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H
    Memory: G.Skill 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 Kit, PC-17000 (2133Mhz), RipjawsZ
Hard Disk 1: Corsair 120GB SSD, 2.5", Force Series GT
Hard Disk 2: Western Digital 1TB, Caviar Blue
Case: BitFenix RAIDER Black Mid-Tower Case
    Optical Drive: Liteo-On IHBS312(BLACK) 12x Bluray Burner, 16x DVDRW, 48x CDRW, SATA
    Video Card: ASUS Geforce GTX570 (742Mhz), 1280MB GDDR5 (3800Mhz)
Wireless Card: TP-LINK TL-WN881ND 300Mbps Wireless N PCI Express Adapter
Power Supply: Corsair CMPSU-650HX 650W ATX Modular PSU
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64bit with Service Pack 1 DVD OEM
CPU Cooler: Xigmatek Gaia CPU Cooler for Socket LGA775/1155/1156/1366/AM3/AM2+/AM2, Heatpipes, 120mm Fan

I haven't been keeping track of hardware since my last build 5 years ago so would appreciate any comments.

    See notes below-

    Intel Core i5 3570K
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H
    Memory: G.Skill 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 Kit, PC-17000 (2133Mhz), RipjawsZ -
Hard Disk 1: Corsair 120GB SSD, 2.5", Force Series GT - Change this to Crucial m4 128GB
Hard Disk 2: Western Digital 1TB, Caviar Blue - Change this to WD Caviar Black
Case: BitFenix RAIDER Black Mid-Tower Case - no clue what this is. I would recommend something like the NZXT Gamma Classic or the Fractal Design Arc midi
    Optical Drive: Liteo-On IHBS312(BLACK) 12x Bluray Burner, 16x DVDRW, 48x CDRW, SATA
    Video Card: ASUS Geforce GTX570 (742Mhz), 1280MB GDDR5 (3800Mhz) - Change this to a 7850 by Asus/MSI/Sapphire
Wireless Card: TP-LINK TL-WN881ND 300Mbps Wireless N PCI Express Adapter
Power Supply: Corsair CMPSU-650HX 650W ATX Modular PSU - You can probably save yourself some money by picking up an OCZ 550/600 watt. They are reliable and are about 1/2 teh cost of the Corsairs.
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64bit with Service Pack 1 DVD OEM
CPU Cooler: Xigmatek Gaia CPU Cooler for Socket LGA775/1155/1156/1366/AM3/AM2+/AM2, Heatpipes, 120mm Fan

I suggest following changes (comments below):

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

    Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($119.00 @ PCCaseGear)
Hard Drive: Crucial M4 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($175.00 @ Mwave Australia)
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon HD 7870 2GB Video Card ($379.00 @ Mwave Australia)
    Total: $673.00
(Prices include shipping and discounts when available.)
    (Generated by PCPartPicker 2012-05-07 13:03 EST+1000)

SSD: Based on the price you could save a little by switching to the Crucial drive (extremely reliable and well rounded performance)
RAM: Cost a little bit extra but low profile will make sure it'll fit with your choice of CPU heatsink (especially with 4 sticks), if you prefer G.SKILL I'll add a link below
GPU: Spend a little bit extra and get much better performance, if you insist on Nvidia either wait for 660 or 670 or get a 560ti 448core and save some money (link below)

    Memory: G.Skill Sniper Low Voltage Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($59.00 @ Scorptec)
    Memory: G.Skill Sniper Low Voltage Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($59.00 @ Scorptec)
    Total: $118.00
(Prices include shipping and discounts when available.)
    (Generated by PCPartPicker 2012-05-07 13:54 EST+1000)

Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560 Ti - 448 Cores 1.25GB Video Card ($295.00 @ Mwave Australia)
    Total: $295.00
(Prices include shipping and discounts when available.)

CPU: Intel i5-3570k (4.2GHz) MB: ASUS Z77 Sabertooth (uefi 1805)
    GPU: Sapphire 7850 (1050MHz/1275MHz) RAM: Corsair LP/LV white 8GB 1600MHz

    Thanks for the suggestions,
I've decided to change the ram to the corsair vengeance low profile and the ssd to the crucial M4. With the money saved from that I've upgraded the 2nd HDD to the 1TB Black and the case to Corsair Carbide 500R Black Mid-Tower Case.

With the video card I've heard the AMD cards seem to be unstable during blizzard games which is why I picked NVIDIA. So I may drop my video card down the 560 TI and upgrade in a year or so if needed.

the (560ti) 448core version is more or less same performance as the 570 but should be cheaper.

Since they hadn't started building my system yet and the 670s arrived in stock I upgraded the video card to the ASUS GTX 670.
Thanks guys for the help, I've very happy with my build now.

GTX670 is a great choice, good luck and post some pictures in the Post-your-gaming-setup! thread when it's up and running.
