OP, what kind of exercises are you doing?

I don't get abs either. My bf and I do almost exactly the same amount of abs but his are visible at all times while mine only really show when I flex them. Even weirder is that I am built much skinnier than him

It wasnt a test i did.... In order to wrestle competitively every high school wrestler gets weighed in, has to pass a hydration test, and then gets there fat measured by certified sports trainers using skin calipers. Im not saying its 100% accurate but calipers are a very reliable way of measuring someones fat level. You have to remember that I am not talking about any typical person. Wrestling is a sport where the vast majority have under 10% body fat and depending on how much weight your cutting, it isnt rare to see people at 3% or less body fat. While this is only possible with extreme methods of dieting and working out in order to stay under a certain weight to wrestle,
This, your test was wrong. 2% body fat is dangerous, less than your body needs to survive for long periods of time. This isn't brosience, you NEED fat.
the test was not wrong and this isnt "broscience", its called dedicated athletes putting everything out there for a sport they love

No that's called idiocy, it's one thing to dehydrate yourself for a weighin another to starve yourself to harmful level and in the process loose a lot of muscle that is needed for the sport they are about to exercise.
The only ones that actually go that far is the top of the body builders during competitions where they have medical staff monitoring their health, and the only reason they can get away with that is because they don't have to do any straining tasks during their shows. Real sportsmen however actually have to be at top health when competing and usually stay between 6-10% body fat.

Calipers can't actually accurately measure body fat % under 5-6%. At that point you actually need a submersion tool in a fancy hospital or something to accurately measure your body fat.

if you dont think wrestling is a real sport then theres something wrong with you dude. Its by far one of, if not the hardest sport out there. the only people who bash it and say its stupid to lose weight like that are people who have never done it before

Never said that wrestling isn't a real sport, I myself train shootfighting/mma and use a lot of wrestling every week. The only thing I've stated so far is that being at such a low body fat % is harmful and will also make you fatigued, so no one with half a clue would go that low when doing a sport that puts a physical strain on your body.

Abs look good, but body fat will keep you going all day long.
