    Hi!

Without gear it's obvious you'll die but once you reach around 3700-4000+ resilience you'll be fine.

Frost Mages have one of the best survivability in the game so you should be fine and you can kite alot. In 1v1 there's almost nothing that can beat you if you play well.
If you're talking about arena it really depends what setup you are running. There are mages playing RMP (Rogue Mage Priest) in 3v3 and running with only 3200 resilience and playing at the top brackets. But if you play a sustain comp like MLS (Mage Lock Shaman) for example you should wear as much as possible (around 4300+).

Also your damage will increase a lot when you gain more mastery and spell power.

If you have any other questions you can PM me or reply here I'll be checking it out.

At the momemt I am running around 4,5k and I would say survivability is ok. Ok if you are countered you can die within seconds... but there are often scenarios in Arathi where you are able to defend a flag for about 30 seconds against 3 attackers without having problems... just spam lol and yell for the cavalry.

Frost mage DPS only sucks if you have a lot of melees hunting you.

Frost DPS generally sucks... you can kill quite a lot with your combos but do not hope to get 4 Mio dmg in a single bg like Hunters, DKs or Fire-Mages. You can carry flags, you can defend flags, you can kill single foes (at least if they do not have better gear). You cannot kill any healer with resi on your own... you can only support the other damaga dealers and help your friends survive.

I don't really see where you came up with that information. I'm running with 3700 resilience (I could be lower and be fine). I have Legendary but that's not really where my damage comes from. I can kill pretty much any healer alone and disc is probably the hardest thing to face 1v1 (from Healers).

I can usually kill around 3-4 people alone in BG's aswell with cooldownmanagement and decent usage of RoF.
Frost DPS doesn't suck, it just doesn't do massive AoE damage like frostDK's and Firemages. I can kill people in a single deepfreeze if they are running around 4k resil.
With t2 MH/OH setup and PvE legs/Valor Belt/PvE trinket you can sit around almost 3900 resilience and have more spellpower than I have currently with Legendary so even without access to amazing pve gear you can have loads of damage. (LFR Legs, Foul Gift trinket from Well of Eternity and Valor Belt).

You aim for 17% crit and get about 15% Mastery if you do it correctly... every 2nd shatter combo crits... sometimes you are more lucky sometimes less.

Anyway... you can get out 3 lances during DF (or 2 lances and a BF)... even if it would crit for 30k (it does not crit for 30k on high resiliance targets).. you get a 160k healer down to half his life...

You cannot kill a good healer on your own, rogues can... expecially with legendarys...but certainly no mage unless your opponent is dumb as hell...ah.. rof... let's jump in it... ahhh i use my trinkets to get our of a frostnova...ah... yes... I am dumb.

Legendary helps certainly, bur most of the pvper only have regular t11 weapons unless you play on 2200+ rating. I do not think he has this rating, most probably he only has 378 weapons.

Your post sound like: Omg... you have ilev 390... you have to make 45k dps on Ultra everytime... because I do with my legendary and 405 ilev...

Not any class is able to kill 4 player unter any circumstance unless they are simpy bad... so terribly bad that it hurts

Berk, a good frost mage can easily kite 2-3 melee's while having a ranged on them, also, what part of what he said suggested that he was elitist? he simple pointed out that with good gear and so on you can easily do tons of damage aswell as defeat healers.

He can kite, but he cannot kill... that is the difference. I mentioned you can hold a flag for a while against a few attackers... but no single class can kill 4 players unless they have no gear and no skill.

    Any advice towards spec?

Ice Shards: Ice Lance range increase needed or not?

Impact (Fire): good investment or not and why?

Fire Blast: In rotation and why?

Burning Soul: What value? Do you cast out side of the .6 reduced FB at all?

Is it not better to ignore Fire and take Arcane Netehrwind Presence (3% haste) and Improved Blink?

Blazing Speed Vs Icy Veins Glyph? Why invest 1/2 or even 2/2 into Blazing Speed as Frost when you can glyph Icy Veins which in light of everything else would allow for 2/2 improved blink!

    For example: http://www.wowhead.com/talent#oMh0bZ...szMo:akmzmVmo0

    No Crempa, use http://www.wowhead.com/talent#oMZcbzbZffbhshszRo

Blazing speed is nice to create some distance from melee.
Fire Blast increased range helps more than refunding mana on crits. You shouldn't have mana issues.
    Impact is a great stun.

I have seen a lot of Frost Mages w/ Impact, it is certainly good to have.
Tbh, I switched from frost to fire on pvp, and I don't regret it
