At that resolution: not really. If you were at a higher resolution (e.g. 1080p), the 550 Ti might hurt a little, depending on the games you play.

Graphics card is probably the the thing holding you back the most there, although you also have a small resolution so 'helps' I guess.

Kinda hard to help you unless we know what type of settings you want to achieve/what you are getting now, and in which games.
    Intel i5 2500K | ASRock z77 Extreme4 | 16GB Corsair Vengeance LP | Gigabyte Windforcex3 GTX 680 OC | Crucial M4 128GB
    Western Digital Caviar Black 1.5TB | H100 | NZXT Hale90 850w | Arc Midi
    Filco Ninja Majestouch-2 (Browns)

Upgrade your monitor. You can get ~22" full hd around $120. Disregarding that, GPU is the weakest link and you could double the ram if you tend to run lots of stuff on background while gaming.

Thanks for the input. I thought graphics card was prolly a bit weak but if its fine for my resolution ill upgrade it when i come accross some extra money.

And I dont multi task in the background.

    Thx alot.

I had that resolution on a 19' before and going to a 1080p 24' was night and day. Especially for wow (where you can have much more real estate for add and everything

If u're not currently using one, get an ssd. Probably the best upgrade ever.

With that resolution/GPU there's no overclocking needed on the i5 2500K, unless you're editing/converting videos or something. You can OC when you save up enough to buy a decent 22-23" monitor and a vastly more powerful GPU.

Yeah I was thinking of de-overclocking it because of skype's nastyhabbit of taking x% of your processing power regardless of if its a P4 or the NASA computer.

But I was thinking is there any point taking away the overclock? Will it deteriate faster even though its not using the extra bit?

I think you meant underclocking, in which case no need. The chip downclocks itself during idle times and uses turbo (self-overclocking) during stressful periods. The true overclocking capability is there once the rest of your system catches up . Skype is skype : / shouldn't matter much.
Also these chips are built to last 10-15+ years at stock clocks/volts...probably longer, I've never actually witnessed a CPU that died from being too old.
