Need a little help with my build.

I am in the process of buying parts for a computer and need a little help to see if it's a decent deal and if it will work. I am only buying parts that are available at my local store. Anything I can downgrade on to save money?

*Are items I get rebates from

    Processor: Intel Core i5-2500K Quad-Core $229.99 *$30

Case: Cooler Master HAF XM $124.99

    Motherboard: Asus P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 $174.99 *$40

    PSU: Corsair Professional Series HX850 $149.99 *$30

    Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series DDR3 1600MHz 2x4GB $64.99

    Storage: OCZ (VTX3-25SAT3-120G) Vertex 3 $124.99 *$25

    Storage 2: Western Digital Caviar Black (WD1002FAEX) 1000GB $119.99

    CD/DVD: LG GH22NS90 Black SATA DVD-Writer $17.88

    Total: $1007.81

    Mail-in-rebates - $125

    Total After Mail-in-rebates: - $882.81

The Graphics card will probably be my GTX 580 I got a while ago or upgrade to something new.

You could save like $10 (depending on your local stores price) by going for this hard drive. They are identical speeds.

Your motherboard - $145 on Newegg , Though by looking at it, your prices are just the total, not the after mail rebates, so who knows the prices :P

I can say that the PSU you've chosen gives you the ability to go SLI, (6x 6+2pins) so you *could* drop it down a little, if you didn't want SLI or just less power.
    Computer: Intel I7-3770k @ 4.5GHz | 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 RAM | AMD 7970 GHz @ 1200/1600 | ASUS Z77-V PRO Mobo|

Put the amounts of rebates, forgot to add that. I also plan to get 2 graphics cards in the future.

Is the motherboard good? Will it work with this build?

    Sum047,

The motherboard is definitely solid but it is a little overpriced. I would look for something in the $120-140 range. Asrock z77 Extreme4/Asrock z77 Pro3/Asus 77 boards in that range.

There shouldn't be much difference in all of them but you just don't want to pay for features you won't be using.

Also, change the PSU to something like an ocz/antec/corsair/seasonic 550W unless you plan on having 2xGPU's sometime.

I'll be throwing in 2 GPU's down the road. Hard to find a lower priced motherboard that are in stock I'll keep looking for a cheaper motherboard
