I think the real problem is the pet biscuit, as someone brought up earlier.
Well, sometimes they can be disturbing but I think that at the end they are so fun and sweet and so I love them all... no problem for me also when AH seems a zoo, its funny lol
Ever since hunters were able to tame flying pets, I have had an issue with flying pets. The vanity pets are too small to be an issue for me, and I don't see the balloon pet very often. But I can empathise with the irritation factor, although a flapping hunter pet is far more annoying to me.
From the #1 Cata review on Amazon.com: "Blizzard's greatest misstep was blaming players instead of admitting their mistakes. They've convinced half of the population that the other half are unskilled whiners, causing a permanent rift in the community."Blizzard's blame game in action: Deleting 6,100+ of Kevyne's posts and threads from the WoW forums.
As shall I! And to add to that, I'm not some stream-lined thin female Draenei, I'm a big-ass Tauren bear rocking Kiril, Fury of Beasts....I wonder, does the size increase from the polearm increase pet size too?

Agreed..only that...the OP was not talking about his hardcore bleeding-edge raiding guild, who is wiping on a boss with a gazillion things you gotta avoid..he was talking about the average LFG 5man heroic >.< Don't take things out of context :P
Erm if the balloon looks bigger on a widescreen monitor than on a normal one you have not set your configuration right. Switching from a normal monitor to widescreen should only give you a wider view, so you see more of the environment to the sides, It should not stretch the imgae. If it does you're set up incorrectly.
The real menace is that f**king singing sunflower. If there really is a zombie on its lawn, I hope it tears its f**king head off.

If it's truly common knowledge... as you claim it is, then everyone would adhere to that standard now wouldn't they? As for your "it's part of the discipline of being a raider" ideal... I don't really know what to say about that... My tanks used a vanity pet on Rotface tons of times... before the arrow was added.

Hey Hey, that sunflower has some serious stones... In the face of many Zombies hoping to eat whatever brains it has... it keeps producing sunlight. It's like the honey badger. Fucks are not given by that flower.
but yeah... actually... that flower sucks. Luckily I have gotten used to playing with no sound... so I don't have to listen to it.
I'm thinking the only reason for a large, bothersom balloon is the pet biscuit thingy, if not then I have nothing to say... =S
And I guess I'll say thank you for bringing up that "No Pets in Raids" thing, cuz if that's also standard in raids then more reason for me to not be a serious raider. =)

Sounds like you are really zoomed in on your character to even have trouble with this. Just zoom out the camera and problem will be solved and the balloon will be smaller and less in the way.
I'm guessing you have your resolution to something very low and have a big monitor at the same time. That woudld indeed cause such pets to be absolutely huge.
Better solution is to fix your resolution instead of asking every single World of Warcraft player to remove their pet balloon when they are in a dungeon with you.
Or he could have his camera in tight to him.
Which is a silly thing to do when dungeoning.

Eh looks like the OPs character is a hunter oddly enough.
I can understand where it could be an annoyance, but I don't think it can be anywhere near as annoying as that stupid train set. Just try setting a max camera distance if you can. Helps a ton with seeing everything.
people seem to love my Mini thor with pet biscuit. i mean who wouldnt want a large loud mech suit walking around with them.
