I love this. LOVE it. I have switched mains many times over the years, many times because of guild needs, but more times due to boredom. I hate seeing something on a toon I have not played in 4 years rot while the toon I am on at the moment cannot get it or would not because of the crappy grind involved.
For those saying "earn it on that toon, don't want all the noobs running around with it", how can that person be a noob if. they. have. the. title? What kind of crackhead logic is that?
why not make it battlent wide and not just account wide ? what about the ones who have 2 or more accounts ?
I like specifically 2 parts of the interview...
"If you have earned an achievement on one character, you can see it on all your characters. However, and this is important, you will still see the achievement toast (the pop-up notification) if a second or subsequent character completes the achievement" - That means you can still track if that character has completed a given raid or something. This was one of the biggest complaints from people, that they would not be able to use achievements in order to invite someone for a raid. Nothing to complain anymore!
"The other category are achievements that are just brutal to complete on one character (and you’d never want to do for multiples), such as 2500 daily quests or 250K honorable kills" - That means I can PVP on all my characters and all the HKs will count towards 100k and 250k! Now I am very inclined to level a toon for PVP-only purposes!
Me likes! I love ghostcrawler too!
Hand of A'dal on all my toons = happyness
I approve this.
I love the way GC thinks.
hmm very intresting chamnge but need somthign clarified
my main needs barrel roll and alys hc for the fl meta. can i get those 2 acheives on a different char and still have it could on my mains meta?
We're all newbs, some are just more newbier than others.
Just a burned out hardcore raider turned casual.
I'm tired. So very tired. Can I just lay my head on your lap and fall asleep?

This is great news! I have about 96K honor kills on my main. On my alts I probably have a total of 100K. When these changes go live I will be close to 250K achievement. Now I can finally do PvP on alts again without having to worry missing out on pvp achievements for my main.
Also, I get to have awesome and unique titles such as Hand of A'dal, Champion of the Naaru and Herald of the Titans on my alts.
Well done Blizzard.
Why don't you like the idea of account only achievements?

If you have Loremaster of Cata on one toon. Loremaster of Northend on another. Loremaster of BC on a third. Loremaster of EK on a fourth and Loremaster of Kal on a 5th, you'll still get "The Loremaster"
The other category are achievements that are just brutal to complete on one character (and you’d never want to do for multiples), such as 2500 daily quests or 250K honorable kills. In these cases, the cumulative work of all your characters on those criteria will count.
I managed to complete 50k on my main in my first 2 years of playing him. In the 2 years since I've only earned an additional 10k or so, mostly due to not enjoying pvp on my warlock in Cata. Yet I've been loving pvp on my other classes and have gained another 40k+ across them and this will put me well over the 100k HK needed for the achievement / title I've been coveting for years.
Thank You.

Very KEWL change! i am very excited for this feature.
Thank goodness... Maybe I'll finally get serious about one of my 10 alts now.
Please make honorable kills account wide!
GC : Okay
Me *nerdscreams*
Largely what I expected, particularly with the meta-achievements and what they deem selected "brutal" achievements, though the clarification is welcome regardless.
However I am concerned over the lack of information on meaningful achievements.
Some such as raid or pvp achievements which are hugely influenced in viability by the choice of class and spec I feel needs some discussion.
My concern is that many will be earned only once and via the easiest route, either by a geared alt or a faceroll choice with a distinct advantage.
...achievements that are just brutal to complete on one character (and you’d never want to do for multiples), such as 2500 daily quests...
I've done waaaaay more than 2,500 dailies on my main.
