War Themes? Ender's Game is WONDERFUL!! Then read the book Ender's Shadow which is during the same timeline from another perspective.

note* just saw the post recommending the same thing.

Currently reading The Name of the Wind, and it's absolutely amazing, indeed. I've yet to read a fantasy book this good in quite some time.

Books by Elizabeth Moon...in particular The Deed of Paksenarrion Trilogy are good fantasy books.
And as stated here before The Wheel of Time.

How? I mean its a little funny all the play he gets, but at least it does not have a lizard-cow going through withdrawals destroy a town...

because while Mr Rothfus is clearly a great writer, he has NO idea about pacing, the whole book felt boring to me, with whole huge drawn out sections where nothing or very little happens.

Maybe Ayn Rand Atlas Shrugged or Fountain Head? Pretty interesting reads.

Maybe a Warhammer book? Malus Darkblade is awesome
Atlas Shrugged is absolutely phenomenal book. Fountainhead, I haven't finished it but it's extremely good too. I needed a break on books that weren't so deep so I quit reading Fountainhead for a bit and moved onto some mindless reads. These aren't books for the faint of heart, Atlas Shrugged in particular. Different lists have it at different places but Atlas Shrugged is almost always in the top 10 for books with the highest word count in western language.

I agree. Sword of Truth is an epic book series. I definitely recommend reading it. Of course Song of Ice and Fire as well.

I second that + Robert Jordan's "The Wheel Of Time"

The Everworld series is really good. Also The Deathgate Cycle series is also really good. Though not super fantasyish, my favorite book series is The Maze Runner series. Check em out
    Lol
    Games are fun

The Stones are Hatching by Geraldine McCauhgrean was a clever book if you want a quick read. Uses a bunch of Europe folklore stuff which is kind of a neat aspect. Time period is post... WWII? Something like that, it's been something like 10 years since I read the thing.

    Artemis Fowl Series.

I do however recommend the first book, Ender's Game, to EVERYONE. lol)
I thoroughly enjoyed ender's saga (and bean's too). The other three books in the original Enders saga get much more complex and philosophical/political, but very good reads. I highly doubt it will be a teen crazy though, there is no sappy romance really.

The Dark Tower by Stephen King: Many people know Stephen king as a horror auther, what they DON'T know is actually his best, biggest work is a fantasy series, admittedly there are some pretty frakkin grim bits in it, but it's still classified as fantasy the first book is 'The Gunslinger' and has hands down the greatest first line of ANY novel in the history of creation.
Nice list, looks like a lot of good reading there. I am a huge Stephen King fan and have read a ton of his stuff including most of his short stories (very surprised just how many stories of his became movies). The Dark Tower series though I have not touched yet, I really want to get into it since I am also a big fantasy fan but don't know why I haven't started yet, prob cause the books seem huge and not sure if it will have the kind of swords and sorcery stuff I like. Alot of people say this is a great series, so I think I might tackle it next.

The game of thrones series for sure!

Recently read through the ranger's apprentice series, had me hooked right from the first book, also the council war series by John Ringo is pretty amazing (although he gets into some weird S&M bits, not quite my cup of tea, however the rest of the books were phenomenal)

i am amazed how many people are raving about the series that Game of Thrones is based on. it isnt particularly well written, and the story isnt very gripping either. i am wading through the third book in the series atm, but wondering why i am bothering.

its almost like he has a checklist for every chapter; long list of things being eaten at a feast [check], long list of names of people involved in a battle/feast/wedding [check]. tedious explanation of the relationships between a large group of people [check]. something bad happening to someone in the Stark family [check]. death of a character that is supposed to be major, that we dont actually care about because by now we KNOW he just kills people when he feels like it [check].

Feist is an easier read, but a bit derivative (and avoid the later books, i am convinced his books are now generated by a badly written computer program).
Abercrombie is a breath of fresh air in the genre. good characters, interesting concepts and well written battle scenes.
The Malazan Book of the Fallen series, no question. its not an easy read, but Garden of the Moon literally blew my mind when i first read it a decade or so ago.
Lies of Locke Lamora is also a very good read. the latest book in the series has been long delayed unfortunately, due to personal problems of the author.
When challenging a Kzin, a simple scream of rage is sufficient. You scream and you leap.

The volume of new game features and content in MoP is a direct consequence of people cancelling subscriptions during Cataclysm. You're welcome.

You're probably right, however the author has been visiting the set often and posting little blogs about it and he says its a way different film than his book, so who knows. They could try and play up a romance between him and somebody. Judging by the actors it they'll no doubt make em teenagers. *shrugs*
