According to a friend of mine, I'm going to hell.

    Hi guys!

Recently one of my friends said "You're going to hell" because, according to her, "only people who believe in God and actively serve in His name deserve so". I wonder why quite a lot of people think like that.
Let's say Hell and Heaven exist. Let's say there's a Good Guy sitting in that mighty fine Heaven of his and let's say there's a Hell in which there's Bad Guy. Now let's find a very nice person whom many of us would like to hang around with - let's pick Gautama Buddha. You can say many things about him, but he was a really swell guy. According to that friend of mine, he would not be allowed into Heaven, since he did not claim to work in the name of the Christian God. Simply put, if you do not 'allow Jesus to be your savior', it is simply not possible to go Up instead of Down, if you follow the logic of my friend. Wouldn't that automatically mean that EVERYONE who lived before Christ got sent to hell, even if they were AWESOME people?
Shouldn't your 'reward' be based on your actions or motives rather than the words you yell while doing the aforementioned actions?

Being a non-practicing Buddhist (raised Christian though) myself, I wonder why many believers (mainly of the Abrahamic faiths) are so arrogant that their way is the sole way to enlightenment. Can anyone explain this mindset for me, please?

I was brought up in a pretty christian family. In any religion its always stressed that "if you believe this way youll be saved". But as i got older my views changed. My thoughts of this are simply, yeah when you die you go up to heaven and talk to whatever god there is and he makes the choice of: if you lived a good honest life, then you can stay. If you were an evil bastard that committed crimes or killings etc (not minor crimes) then youll prolly go down below.

Butto answer your question, no way to explain it.... Theyre just a little crazy

Number of things I have done that should put me on the going to Hell list, I'll be getting VIP boarding.

People always think they are right and some are so confident that they are correct they believe that you should be made to suffer until you agree with them.

Well if you go there drop by and say hi to me, Goebbels and I will be jiving on Stalin.

Namely because "WERE RITE UR TERRIST LOLOLOLOLOL."

Seriously though, it's absolute faith in one's deity. Especially considering that Christian God is omnipotent, omnipresent and wrathful, although confessing apparently makes him loving and nurturing. Some people will fight tooth and nail for their beliefs, especially if doing so takes them into an utopia of relief and happiness... or 72 virgins.

I don't think there's much of a mindset here; people will stubbornly believe what they choose to believe, even if their friends tell them otherwise. Then again, I'm biased against religion, so my opinion is pretty moot.
Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and for thy possession, the ends of the earth. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron. Thou shalt dash them in pieces, like a potter's vessel. Be wise now therefore ye kings. Be admonished ye judges of the earth. Serve the lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the son lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way, though his wrath be kindled but a little.

As has been stated, religion is a forbidden topic due to its inflammatory nature.
