Couple of questions about my AMD 5770

Can a 5770 handle games alright at 1920x1080 or will it push it too hard? I'm using a 1600x900 monitor right now for WoW and want to try some other games. I do have a 1920x1080 monitor but I'm just wondering if its even worth using with my card.
Would I be able to get decent fps in Skyrim at 1920x1080 with that card? thanks!

Yup should be totally playable.



Skyrim is quite CPU-bound so your CPU should do a good job of handling it. It's also had some high-resolution texture updates (or so I hear, I don't play it) which put significantly more stress on the GPU in which case a 5770 would probably start struggling.

For WoW, a 5770 is fine for full hd, check my signature (and my monitor even has 1920x1200). You won't get 60fps in 25's, but it is playable (~30fps).

For other games... well that depends on the need for video power of the specific game. E.g. BF3 won't be playable at full HD, and Skyrim might push it also a bit.

I believe those high-res textures are optional, but I'm not sure. In any case, the 5770 is a very good card, should work fine for plenty of games at 1080p.

My desktop is running a 5770, running 1920x1080 wow runs with everything on high, with shadows on low. gets 60 fps in low pop areas, drops to 35ish in 25 mans.

runs bf3 fine on about half settings at same resolution.
