Looking for constructive criticism on my band!

    Hey there!

My band 'Warden' have just put up our first track ever onto our facebook and were looking for feedback from strangers (ie you!).
We formed in January this year and just got out of the studio where we recorded a 3 track E.P.

I'm open to constructive criticism, be as brutal as you want (providing you actually give feedback that helps give us a better sense of direction).

If possible, describe the song and how it feels to you.. for example the style, what bands it sounds similar to, whether you feel the song as a whole works etc.
Could you also give an example of a few bands/artists you like yourself.

instrumentally it sounds good, the description on the face book page is pretty spot on, but the vocals are terrible. i just get no real emotion from the singer. slap him and tell him to feel it, then sing.

^ that is some emotion in a song, there are far better examples, but it happens to be what i'm listening to as i read this post.

Gotta agree with previous poster. You can hear that the singer knows how to sing but it feels like he's just reading us the lyrics and isn't actually emotionally engaged in the "story" described in the song.

    Some pretty sick guitar.

I agree. The vocals feel a bit off, but the rest is good. It's almost as if the lead vocals is attempting to imitate other artists rather than finding a sound of his own to go with. Then there is no real harmony with the backup vocals.
