Legacy Unlock Question

I have recently come back and feel disoriented with all the new stuff in air. One question I have about the Legacy Unlocks is whether deleting existing characters will affect the unlocks? For instance, if I have a Sith Pureblood Character at level 50, and I delete that character, will I still retain the racial unlock?
