[70] Oronu the Elder: Kill Oronu the Elder and take his Orders from Akama.
[70] The Ashtongue Corruptors: Obtain the fragments of the Medallion of Karabor, held by the Ashtongue Corruptors. This is from the quest log: "Haalum, Corruptor of Air, can be found at Netherwing Pass. Eykenen and Uylaru, Corruptors of Earth and Fire, were last seen at the Fel Pits near the Hand of Gul'dan. Lakaan, Corruptor of Water, is rumored to be near Coilskar Point."
[70] The Warden's Cage: Go to the Warden's Cage, and speak with Sanoru, one of the Ashtongue Deathsworn.
[70] Proof of Allegiance: Kill the satyr Zandras. He walks along the walls around the Warden's Cage.
[70] Akama: Speak to Akama. He is in a portion of the Warden's Cage accessed by a passage under the pool of water at the end of the room.
[70D] Seer Udalo: Akama tells you that the pieces of the Medallion of Karabor you found were a mere replica, and he has the real thing. The final piece is missing, but one of his seers, Udalo, knows where it is. Udalo has been captured by Kael'thas and is being held in the Arcatraz. He is dead, but find his body anyway.
[70] A Mysterious Portent: Upon finding Udalo, you receive the next quest: Apparently the word "ata'mal" is written on the ground near him. Return to Akama.
[70] The Ata'mal Terrace: Go to the Ata'mal Terrace - the northern battlement of the Black Temple, crawling with fel orcs - and kill Shadowlord Deathwail and his warlocks. Deathwail has the crystal you need to obtain - the Heart of Fury. Bring it back to Akama.
[70] Akama's Promise: This quest is the final reward quest for the pre raid Akama chain of quests. Akama places the Heart of Fury into the Medallion of Karabor. Take the Medallion to A'dal in Shattrath City; A'dal tells you of a vision, of Akama and Maiev (Illidan's prisoner, "held" by Akama) fighting through the Black Temple with a "shadowy figure" - you. You also receive 11g 40s, 1000 reputation with the Sha'tar and 1000 reputation with the Ashtongue Deathsworn, and a choice of [Akama's Sash], [Ashtongue Blade], [Bloodwarder's Rifle], [Verdant Gloves], [Spellbreaker's Buckler] or [Staff of the Ashtongue Deathsworn]. Your reputation should be 1925 at this point (non humans). Afterwards [70] The Secret Compromised opens up, involving speaking to Seer Olum in Serpentshrine Cavern.
    25 Man Content Edit
[70] The Secret Compromised Seer Olum spawns in Serpentshrine Cavern after slaying Fathom-Lord Karathress (boss of the 25-man SSC raid, not to be confused with Warlord Kalithresh, of the 5-man Steamvault!). He then sends you to Akama in Shadowmoon Valley
[70R] Ruse of the Ashtongue Travel into Tempest Keep and slay Al'ar while wearing the Ashtongue Cowl. Return to Akama in Shadowmoon Valley once you've completed this task.
[70R] An Artifact From the Past Go to the Caverns of Time in Tanaris and gain access to the Battle for Mount Hyjal. Once inside, defeat Rage Winterchill and bring the Time-Phased Phylactery to Akama in Shadowmoon Valley.
[70] The Hostage Soul Travel to Shattrath and talk to A'dal
[70] Entry Into the Black Temple Travel to the entrance to the Black Temple in Shadowmoon Valley and speak to Xi'ri.
[70] A Distraction for Akama Ensure that Akama and Maiev enter the Black Temple in Shadowmoon Valley after Xi'ri's forces create a distraction. You now receive the Medallion of Karabor which is required to enter the Black Temple.
[70R] Seek Out the Ashtongue Find Akama's Deathsworn inside the Black Temple.
[70R] Redemption of the Ashtongue Help Akama wrest control back of his soul by defeating the Shade of Akama inside the Black Temple. Return to Seer Kanai when you've completed this task.
[70R] The Fall of the Betrayer Seer Kanai wants you to defeat Illidan inside the Black Temple.
    Quest progressionEdit
    [70] Tablets of Baa'ri
    [70] Oronu the Elder

    [70] The Warden's Cage
    [70] Proof of Allegiance
    [70] Akama
    [70] Seer Udalo
    [70] A Mysterious Portent

    [70] Akama's Promise
    [70] The Secret Compromised
    [70R] Ruse of the Ashtongue
[70R] An Artifact From the Past
    [70] The Hostage Soul
[70] Entry Into the Black Temple
    [70] A Distraction for Akama
    [70R] Seek Out the Ashtongue
    [70R] Redemption of the Ashtongue
[70R] The Fall of the Betrayer
You missed the part where, before you can speak to Akama to start this chain, you must complete the SMV quest chain regarding that one "legend" guy who was a farmer. and you dig up carrots, and breaks into 3 chains ending in group quests, and gives an awesome blue weapon as a reward, Tornhart or something. I don't remember.

    But it adds a lot.

Also, you need to attune yourself for hyjal to get the artifact off of rage winterchill. That in itself requires Vials from Vashj and KT which, initially, also required attunements including becoming Champion of the Naaru (TK) culminating with kill Mag and the SSC chain involving killing Gruul and Nightbane. Nightbane required a crazy quest chain to learn to summon after becoming attuned to Kara which was only available after completeing a long chain to get the key.

So if we work forwards, Kara and Gruul to get Attuned to SSC to get attuned to TK to get attuned to Mt Hyjal to get attuned to BT. At least 200 quests involved, many of which are group quests, and lots of raiding.

    Why this 'attunement' is necessary:
Heart of Fear sees you breaking the Mantid Empress free of the control of the Sha of Fear, who you then pursue to the Terrace of Endless Spring and confront in battle. Story wise, being able to confront and defeat the Sha of Fear in the Terrace of Endless Spring won't make any sense before you actually drive it out of the Mantid Empress first. Nothing big to see here, just a simple and quick story control mechanism.
    Siege of Orgrimmar Predictions (04/02/13):
Garrosh is actually in full control of the Sha of Pride and using it to create super soldiers. Variann and the new warchief go to make peace, but Jaina screws it up by attacking the Horde delegation. The Dark Iron dwarves (and Moira) will feature prominently in the Alliance side of the siege.

If that's an attunement, then I'm a dragon.

That is pretty much the same thing as with the ICC and DS 5-mans. You need to complete them in a certain order because of some reason, usually being their lore. And, call me crazy, but I bet you'll be able to complete the requirement in LFR mode.
Best description of the remade dungeons in Cataclysm and MoP I've seen so far:

Yeah, but it was a major catch 22.

If you were late to the cap (for instance because you rolled a new race instead of powering to 70) you generally had to work to find a guild willing to take you through the attunement so you could raid.

The attunements were so long and hard that no one wanted to do them for new members, thereby blocking a large portion of the playerbase from raiding.

There's no way they'd go back to BC style attunments, it killed way too many guilds. It was a huge pain in the ass to keep running the 'old' content to attune new recruits. I can see them doing the whole complete the 1st raid before going to the 2nd, and I'm all for that sort of thing. I remember the guild leader in my BC guild had everybody's phone number and would call us at any hour to log on and zone into a particular place to talk to a quest guy that we needed to get attuned. Glad those type of attunements are long gone and hope they never come back!

Attunements in vanilla and TBC were borderline stupid wastes of time.

The purpose of such would be...? Time sink for the sake of having a time sink?

They said they were doing things like this at the start of Cata. It was quickly removed. It was going to be all 3 end bosses dead to go into FL same thing to start the staff quest line. Ppl qq'd in force and they caved in about a week or two. Now I can see why ppl didn't like the BC process, I personally did but I didnt have the turn over issues many talk about. Having somebody kill the end raid boss from the tier that was just finished isn't asking much though. Hopefully this sticks.

If you can do this in LFR, there's no reason anyone could possibly complain about for it to not stick.

You cant call this an attunement, Its not an attunement, For example back in Wrath you had to have a kingslayer in your raid to attempt hardmodes, that's not an attunement, Neither is this

That's unfortunate, I just did. You had to do a quest chain to gain access to raids such as Karazhan and the other raids in BC. You had to kill Lich King to gain access to Heroics. Both ways are attunements, just way different processes.

Ppl act like it has to be a long drawn out process or nothing at all. There is some middle ground, like just having ppl kill the final boss of the previous tier of raids. That is very easy to do but still somewhat gates things.
