    Guilds and recruitment

Hello Forum, so me and 5 friends decided to start a guild a while back because we wanted our own name, but because of the guild leveling system no one wants to join a level 2 guild. Please don't post things like disband or give up, that's annoying and your wasting your own time. We want to recruit more people for PvP mostly, im curious if you guys have any recommendations on how to promote the guild and get more members. Obviously spamming trade chat is annoying to other players so im trying to come up with something with a little.. excitment to either make people want to be a member or make the guild more known. Any ideas?

There's no point in much more than throwing ad on trade every now and then hoping to get lucky, at least until you're lvl 10 or so with the guild - good luck with that, currently doing the same. Alone.
People don't want to join a start-up guild, they just want to reap the rewards of higher level guilds without the need to do anything to help reach them.

Yea, I have noticed that, the other problem is that a small guild takes a LONG time to level up, you need a decent amount of members, I have even offered to help players level by doing quests and dungeons with them until they hit 85 but the problem is that there is nothin stopping them from leaving once they hit 85, I helped one guy from 83-85 and he left and I helped another from 79-85 and he left too, so I ended up just wasting my time. I've thought about a gold alternative where If you stay in the guild every person you recruit gets you 100g and every time you participate in guild activites and help level up the guild you get 100g so really you can make about 1000g a week if you really wanted to, but the problem with that is I have to be able to meet demand, and for 2-3 people it wouldnt be that bad but 10 people at 1000g a week would be ridiculous, for me atleast.

I would not suggest this because then people are not in the guild to have a good time, raid or pvp. They are in it for gold for the most part and its really a solution that cant last forever. I would say you need to stay at it, make friends, invite them in. Grow over time. You don't need to rush things and you need to realize you wont have a level 25 guild with hundreds of members overnight.

That's good advice Sunknight, I had considered that though in addition to the me not be able to supply the offer of gold which is why I never went through with that plan. Im not really even looking for a huge guild like I would be happy with 25 active players, atleast that way you can do RBG's and arena and when there are only 2-3 of you on you can atleast join up and do regular BG's. I have made friends on the game aswell, the problem is they are either raiders or devout to another guild with which they have been for years

buy a lvl 25 guild for ingame gold, (on my realm they are always being sold), change the name, problem solved.

Whot, whot? You can rename guilds? How did I miss that? Is it an ingame option or something you do through Blizzard?

  8. #8
you can do it via battle.net guildmaster services. you can move guild to new a realm and faction to, at a price ofc.

Oh wow, thank you, I will have to look into that, Im not really sure how I didnt know about this sooner. I think a level 25 guild would help me recruit for sure, do you know roughly how much a guild goes for? (I realize that it will vary from server to server but a very rough ball park number is better than no number at all)

They can probably go for a couple thousand gold to a significant number in the thousands of gold. It depends on the seller and the population of the server.

Have you tried an add on like mass recruiter its a bit lame but when we started out we struggled to hit cap without the same people running arenas every day (easily the best way to hit cap). We made sure that they were on a trial member basis so didnt have much access, we ended up with over 250 people and were now level 23, yes its 200 odd randoms, could easily have been double that but we stopped at 250, but eventually you just kick out people who dont log for a while and keep the guys that seem interested in the guild.

Ultimately this is the worst time of any to be recruiting, end of expac is such an awful time for guild management,

On our server a level 1 guild with 3 tabs goes for 1 few thousand id have thought a full level 25 would be very high on our server.

I will try an add on like mass recruiter, that also never crossed my mind. What I might try to do is buy a guild thats higher level than my own and use mass recruiter on it so it will hit 25 quickly and then starting weeding out the people who aren't interested in being in a PvP guild, and start recruiting more specific people Thanks for your idea's and contributions!

A guild for even 10,000 split 6 ways isnt that bad a price so im sure buying a higher level guild wont be too much of a problem

Oh wow, thats awesome, I will have to encourage in guild arena teams then for sure! In addition to buying a higher level guild and mass recruitment I think I should be much more succesful than I have been in the past!

Organize city raids and world pvp, old school raids, give free 16 slot bags, sure as hell beats "social".

    A few suggestions:

    - Form guild arena teams and get XP cap through that - not only is it good XP, it's also within your stated aims of PVP
    - If you've got a time when all 6 of you can be on, then form a For The Alliance/For The Horde on a weekly time and invite people to that - if it's succesful every week then you'll have lots of people wanting to join the raid, and from there you can invite people to guild.
    - Start some pre-mades from people in trade for normal bgs or pug some people for rated bgs (if the 6 of you can all be online at the same time and can win a few rated, otherwise stick to normal). Go for things that people want, like achievements etc and then recruit from those groups into the guild.

Not everyone will join your guild from these suggestions, but if you make all your city-raid/bg correspondance with your guild-name involved (e.g. "<Guild Name> are taking over Orgrimmar, come join us for [Death to the Warchief!] LF..." etc) then people will start to remember your name. In addition, you'll meet people and make friends who might already be happy in their own guild, but they're happy to do PVP with you guys - finding quality players to do stuff with you can end up being really important to success. Don't just advertise for potential members, but see if there's any guild in a similar situation (i.e. not enough players for competitive rated bgs) and form a group together.

One of the key ways a guild gets members is by being succesful at what it does. Use any ally you can find to leverage success and people will want to join. Get ready for the frustrations of pugging, because it's your best way to find people who want to be there for the PVP rather than for the guild level.

A level 25 guild on my server ( a very low population EU server) goes for around 300k.

I think Blizzard need to address this problem. They brought in guild perks, levels & reputation to discourage people from guild-hopping, but the downside is that recruiting people to new guilds is virtually impossible, because no-one wants to join a level 2 guild because some of the perks are very nice indeed.

They need to remove the weekly reputation cap for new guilds or guilds below a certain level, or have the weekly cap inversely proportional to the number of members i.e. much higher for very small guilds.

Even the lvl 1 alts don't want to join in a guild lower than lvl 6 which gives 10% more xp. Blizzard must do something for that.
