Are ranged naturally better farmers?

Hi, first of all I am by no mean talking about who is overpowered here and I am not making this as a complain.

I've recently reached act 3 inferno on my Wiz, and after several MF runs I started wondering if a melee could do the same: I always swap my main gear for a MF gear before downing the mob/boss and even though I am not 100% sure this works (it surely looks like so) I can't see how a barb/monk would be able to survive a blow from a boss of even worse an elite pack after swaping to MF gear.

In my head this basically means ranged would be superior farmers. Am I wrong thinking this way? Since I don't have that much experience within Diablo lore, I can't presume I am right.

They probably could not. Melee are inferior in almost every single way when playing at high difficulties.

I thought so. Maybe with top notch MF gear it will have enough stats to stay alive and change it, making it more viable farmers.
