Silly Gear Question.

Okay, so this is starting to irritate me because I am so damn confused.
I'm on Inferno, Act I, and I can find weapons with like a max of 500 Damage.
I look in the AH, and I see weapons with like, 1500.
This is something I've seen every level when I look in the AH. Why is this?
Couple Questions that I thought would explain it for myself -
Is this gear from there being more people in the game?
Does the gear get better if you play with other people?
Is it MF gear?
It just seems I feel like I find good gear, then I look in the AH and for the same level I see gear that surpasses mine on a huge level.
Am I doing it wrong?

Gear is stupidly designed to suck time. Inferno dropping lvl 44 items? Total BS.

Some of that gear is crafted. Some of it is from later acts in Inferno. Some of it is just random luck. Some of it is people farming bosses with 5 stacks of NV.
