    Building/upgrading new gaming pc

    Hey, I've been saving up for a while now to upgrade my pc. Parts I'm looking at are

    Case: Coolermaster HAF X 942 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16811119239 $210
    CPU: intel i7 3770k quadcore 3.5ghz http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16819116501 $350 (Also if someone could explain the differences in these http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16819116502 and http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16819116503)
    Motherboard: Asus Maximus IV http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16813131760 $336
    GPU: Sapphire 7970(carrying over from old pc)
    HDD: 1.5TB Western Digital(carrying over)
    RAM: 2x8GB 1866 DDR3 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16820231528 $151
    PSU: Antec 750w high current pro(carrying over)
    Heatsink: Looking for some help with this, preferably within $80-$100
    Price: $1127-$1147
    I think I've mentioned everything required. Mostly looking for some opinions on the build and compatibility. Wanting to stick primarily with specs in this range and I would enjoy suggestions regarding alternatives to the chosen parts.

    3770S is an underclocked version IIRC
    3770 is a locked version (meaning you can't overclock)
    3770K is an unlocked version

    But disregard them all & go for the i5-3570k, you will see the same performance in gaming.

    The Maximus IV is a generation old. If you're into looks the Sabertooth is more for you. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...bertooth%20z77

    If you want price =/= performance get the ASrock Z77 pro3 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...k%20z77%20pro3
    i7-6700k 4.2GHz | Gigabyte GTX 980 | 16GB Kingston HyperX | Intel 750 Series SSD 400GB | Corsair H100i | Noctua IndustialPPC
    ASUS PB298Q 4K | 2x QNIX QH2710 | CM Storm Rapid w/ Reds | Zowie AM | Schiit Stack w/ Sennheiser HD8/Antlion Modmic

    3770S means it's using less power, so you can get away with a 100-200w system at most
    3770 means it's the regular CPU
    3770K means you can increase the multiplier far beyond the stock and thus overclock it.

    Thoughts;
    * Unless you're heavy into rendering/movie editting et c, get the i5 3570K instead.
    * Get a Z77 board rather than a Z68 board.
    * Consider an SSD.
    * RAM is overkill, unless you do more of the above work.

    What exactly is the difference between an i5 3570k, I noticed it supports up to 1600mhz ram so as for ram are you talking about the 1866mhz being overkill or the 16gb? Would 8gb of http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16820231400 be sufficient to future proof or should I go for 12gb? As you can probably tell I have not done much research into this field, primarily I've looked at cases and decided upon the one in my original post. Also still wondering about heatsinks.

    By the time you need 16GB of RAM it'll probably be time to upgrade again. And if not you can add some later. Go with a 2x4GB set, and make sure if the sticks have wacky heatsinks on them you'll be able to fit whichever cooler you choose with them installed.

    Alright thanks for the advice, I think I have a general idea of where to go and cut off some fat as far as the cost goes while keeping performance up now ^^
