please help me with my graphics card someone please please please

recently bought diablo 3 had some problems getting it to run as it says my graphics card doesnt support it now i found away around that which allowed me to play diablo but the game is kinda messed up and unplayable.

i mean its like im moving in slow motion constant lag and i even have all settings on low really isnt fun to me to play like this u may think its due to my pc but my pc isnt all that bad i mean i run wow and i never have problems with lag or anything so i figure diablo 3 is running like it is due to my graphics card.

now i will list my operating system below and i live in hope that some of you great guys/girls could help me with what graphics card is best to get.

i would like to enjoy the game in the best way possible i cant afford a new pc right now not that my pc is all that bad but i would like to invest in a top notch graphics card i aint all that tech minded so have no idea what the best graphics card is for my computer so if you guys/girls could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

thanks very much in advanced heres my systems details.

If your graphics card is unsupported, it's unsurprising the game is having issues irrespective of a "workaround". Buying a new graphics card is a good step, though the wall of text you linked doesn't say what your motherboard is.

If you're looking for something relatively cheap but still decent, get like the Radeon 6850.

Compare your system specifications with the specs minimum requirements listed here: http://us.battle.net/support/en/arti...m-requirements

Also, check this list of unsupported graphic cards: http://eu.battle.net/support/en/arti...ideo-card-list

Your GPU is complete crap, and never meant to play any game released in the last 10 years.

OP, as blunt as this sounds, pretty much this. As far as I can tell from that wall of text... you don't actually have a "graphics card" as they exist today. It looks as if your graphics may even be entirely running off your CPU alone. It's not surprising in the slightest that diablo 3 is responding with "WTF".

The lack of punctuation in any of your post also makes it very very difficult to read. But can you tell us if this pc has successfully played any other games in the past? And by past I use that term to it's full extent... You'd be lucky to run DOOM on that thing! o.0

To address your actual question of which "best" graphics cards to choose from, we need more information about your system that you'll only be able to find out by pulling it open. We need to know if it's a laptop or not, first of all, because if it is you're riding up Shit Creek without a paddle. If it's a desktop, we need to know what voltage of power supply your PC is running on, because if it isn't powerful enough it simply won't run a modern graphics card.

Another problem is your operating system; Vista. Not only is vista itself absolute ASS to run games on, but yours is also the 32bit version, which can only make use of 2GB of RAM ever. Meaning that 2/3 of your available RAM is actually being used at all. Half of which is probably dedicated to keeping Vista running. If you seriously want to upgrade your PC you'll need to get rid of vista32 and replace it with either Windows 7 64bit, or Windows XP.

If you've been playing WoW on that onboard graphics card, you should be fine with a card from last generation for around $100, maybe a GTX 460 or ATi 67xx.

I would advice you either: get somebody who really knows computers to look at yours physically to advice you upgrades, who also knows your financial situation and can guide you better that way. I don't think you'll be fine with just a great graphics card.

If you're fine financially I'd advice you to build a new computer. You probably have a computer store near you who can build computers. Order parts online, you can take a look in the computers section on this forum to get help what to get or anywhere else on the internet, or get somebody IRL to advice you about parts. Then take the parts to your local computer store and pay them to assemble the computer for you.

I'm not very tech savvy either, but looking at replies I assume the computer is pretty old, probably bought already assembled? And yes, vista sucks.

ive had the pc for 4 years right now i cant really afford to get a new pc and i mean the games ive played so far has run with no problems at all its just diablo 3 that im having this lag and moving in slow motion thing with.

and the thing is ive got all settings on low too but still all i get is this lag and moving slow motion thing its frustrating and annoying and its clear it does this because my graphics card isnt supported.

im sure its this because when i play wow i dont have any problems moving around at all infact i have perfect movement in wow no lag issues at all ive even gone as far as to unistalling wow recently because i thought maybe it would help but it didnt.

so yes i need a new graphics card so please if you guys/girls could recomend one that is compatible for my pc and that runs on diablo 3 i would so greatly appreciate it very much.

Given that you've been playing with the on-board video provided by your motherboard you should do fine with pretty much anything. My suggestion is not to go all out and blow a ton of cash into some fancy gfx card since the rest of the system is gonna end up bottle-necking final performance. Some cards listed by price that should be adequate for your needs (Diablo 3):

    - AMD HD 7770 ~140$ (decent performance with last gen technologies supported)
    - AMD HD 6850 ~150$ (last year's best choice for low budgets looking for decent performance)
    - AMD HD 6870 ~170$ (a small step up from the cut down 6850)
    - Nvidia GTX 560 ~180$ (almost on par with the HD 6870, depending on the game)

Each card should perform approximately 5-10% better than the one right above (give or take).

Any higher performing card would push the price over 200$, and not really make much of a difference in Diablo unless you are playing above 1080p resolution.

Comparing being able to run Diablo 3 and WoW on the same machine is like trying to compare a laurie (not from UK, dunno if I spelled that right lol) with a ferrari. WoW is set up to run on a very wide range of PCs, Diablo 3 is not, the graphics in it are far more intricate than WoW. Also, don't take any advice on what video card to get unless you know what, if any, type of graphic slot you have. A motherboard that old may not even have a PCI-Express slot, which is basicly the standard for all newish video cards nowadays. I went to upgrade my brother's PC for him, just to find out his piece of crap motherboard didn't even have ANY expansion slots at all.

might want to check your power supply before you buy a graphics card or else you may need to fork out some more cash.

should be fine assuming your psu is 300w+

This is what I have and I can't fault it, although if I had to choose again I would have bought a gtx 560 ti.

I was going to say that. He's likely got a stock power supply that may not even have the right connectors. A lot of more powerful cards require a certain number of amps on the +12v rail (for instance, mine requires 42). I had to purchase a 750w regulating power supply to compensate due to somewhat shoddy wiring here.

yeah, that's why I recommend the 7750. it's pretty decent card with super low power consumption even under load. it draws like 50W at maximum capacity whereas other cards such as the 6850, gtx 460/450 and so on can draw anywhere from 120w-180w.
