I checked their discography. Why is there seemingly so much hype around five teenage boys that have one studio album out?

Surely there must be heavy marketing going on, which is strange - with the amount of music-related content I sift through on a daily basis in mind, I have never heard them mentioned once. Ever.

The band comes off as a rather shallow approach to backstreet boys alá 2012, with most of their focus on image over musicianship. But hey, I haven't listened to their studio album in full, so what do I know?
