How do people who are posting their DPS know what their DPS is? Is there a meter that I need to know about? Sorry for the noob question.

character screen you have a dps tracker (under all your stats), its limited but gives you an idea of your damage range/potential.

This. It shows the average you'll hit for. I'll watch my numbers (it shows 1046 right now), and I'll hit from anywhere around 700 to 3000 (usually a crit)
