Go western digital blacks for the HDDs, 7850 for the GPU (unless those programs use CUDA and actually see significant gains from it?), and you don't need super speedy memory, something one or two steps slower is fine.

Thanks for the speedy reply, I can definitely use your feedback. Is the SSD I picked out all right? And i have done some research on CPUs for After Effects but I can't find anything solid so feedback on the 360k's effectiveness would be lovely. Ill edit my original post to reflect your changes.

A very small gain as far as I know, looks like CUDA is somewhat useful after all.

I would definitely get 16gigs of RAM especially for After Effects. It will for sure come in handy when you are doing a RAM preview and save you a lot of time.

You need more then 8 gig for 3DS max if you're doing anything polygon intensive. I run 16 gig personally although it is a little overkill as i work in the games industry as a 3d artist and so typical i'm working in the single or even occasional double digi thousands of polygons.. However, I do like to dabble in other areas but my main work is working on 3-5k polygon models.

If you can give some more information on what sort of 3d work you do, I can assist further.

Ok so I changed the RAM to http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820233299 Corsair 1600 2x8, GPU is back to the 560 ti and I am completely unsure of the CPU I should use...So would something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116503 be more beneficial or less beneficial? And the computer is primarily going to be used for After Effects, but the person I am building this for is just starting to get into 3D max so it needs to be able to do a decent job at that.

Edit: New parts up, and new questions lol...So is it worth it to get a 2nd caviar black and raid them together? And I'm looking for a cheap yet decent case that isn't overly big. Once I figure out these and the CPU I'll buy the parts

Alright, I plan on buying the parts at about 5ish tomorrow afternoon..only change to the OP is the 3770S cpu. Any last minute interjections will be appreciated.
