Well, Enter The Publisher! Enter the Editor! This is a financial problem, right here. Book must sell. You are right that books are more flexible and loose than tv series format. But still they have limitations of their own. A huge book will be split into 2-3-4 books by the will of the publisher - this way he can sell more books and earn more money. A single book would be trimmed of "dead weight" or description "water", dialogues would be shortened and tweaked for easy understanding, ending might get changed, characters might get transformed, explicit content turned into implicit content or censored out - all these by the will of the editor.

we can argue how much is trimmed everything ubt i don't see the point in it, Martin himself stated that he had to cut a book before and all that, it's true, but again...say whatever you want.

I've actually got a coworker reading one of the books as an e-book at his desk right now. Him and a couple of others are completely addicted to the HBO show. Personally I just don't get the appeal. It read more like a soap opera to me than any sort of fantasy epic. I think I finished one of the books. The one with the wall and ice people.

Well, the calls that there are already versions of games of franchises people want to see is not the end of it all because I could make a "game" in a day that sucks and it wouldn't be an argument that it's the end of it.
