Question about Pre-purchasing

So today, I went to my local Gamestop and pre-purchased Guild Wars 2 (and for sure did) and I came home and when I went to Register.guildwars2.com and put in my serial code and my GW account info but I kept getting an error saying that it is a pre-order code and that I need to pre-purchase to participate. But I pre-purchased!! $64.86 bucks

I called the Gamestop and he said I would have to wait until the beta actually launches to put in my information and if it doesn't work that they can give me another serial number. If anyone else went and pre-purchased the physical copy, is that how it worked? Did you get a box? Did you get an email?

Sounds like they gave you the wrong code. You should be able to enter the code, create your account and then download the client.
If it doesn't let you do that it really does sound like they gave you the wrong one.

This is why I never buy from non-affiliated retailers.

You should probably demand a refund or another serial code, since they obviously made a mistake.

FYI - I had a physical copy too. The box comes with a code inside. You enter than and then download. If it doesn't take it...dud code. And you have to download it before the beta. Them telling you to wait until the beta makes them dumb.

my advice to you return it and get the digitical copy simple easy enough time to download beta stuff with a few hours to spare

Mine was purchased through Zavvi.co.uk. But they sent me a physical box.
Only EU did the boxes I think. I've heard that gamestop did the code on the receipt...but yh, it definitely seems like they gave you a bad one.

If you aren't buying a collector's edition there is zero reason to buy a physical copy.

This all depends on where you live though. All I got was a receipt with the code on the receipt. I ordered from GameStop on the very first day pre-purchases went live and they were able to get their shit straight...you'd think after 2 months all the stores should know what they're doing, but I guess not.

yh soz...clarified in a later post physical is only for EU.
You'd think they'd know aye...but always bet on stupid I guess.

That's why when I went to Gamestop to prepurchase the CE, I emphasized the pre-'PURCHASE' and kept hounding them until I got what was needed. Even then I had to go back to get the key because they didn't have it set up properly the first time, but I ended up getting 2 prepurchase keys as a result (Gamestop error in my favor, collect bonus prepurchase key).

Gamestop... is there any of these prepurchase, preorder code deals that they don't screw up? Thats the main reason I just went with the digital download this time and said screw all that jazz.

I've known at least 3 people personally that have been buggered over by the Gamestop code fiasco.

Not exactly a big booster, but I noticed at Bestbuy the other day they had official Guild Wars 2 PrePurchase cards that give you a legit code right away. Why doesn't Gamestop have those?

It was a little lame, but all he did was pull up my transaction and read me the code and i copied it down and it ended up working. But yea, I would've preferred it have worked once i've purchased and not have to go back.
