Websites Will Be Forced To Identify Trolls

Websites will be legally obliged to provide victims with the identity of people who post abusive and defamatory online messages about them under plans by the Government.

Major reforms of the libel laws will also see internet service providers (ISPs) given greater protection from being sued if they help to identify so-called trolls.
Would-be claimants will have to show they have suffered serious harm to their reputations, or are likely to do so, before they can take a defamation case forward.
It comes after a mother who was targeted by online trolls won backing from the High Court to have her tormentors' identities disclosed.

People who troll can easily get a proxy server to mask IP addresses and what not its hard to stop idiots being idiots. It should have always been in the hands of the site owners to enforce the bylaws of the site meaning the policing of there own property may it be digital or not.

the Government can try to enforce it but as long as its not a direct threat to someone it will be overlooked . please remember a troll is not a person who threatens another a troll is someone who wastes time posting on or in forums that contains little to no intellient conversation.

urban dictonary labels a troll as One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument. please have knowledge of what a troll is verus someone performing a criminal act such as harassment.

This isn't about what people round these parts usually mean by trolling. This is about making the process of punishing what is already against the law 9and probably against the laws of your own country); defamation of character, harassment, and all that stuff. Posting "ur mommas fat" isn't covered by this so all the "u mad bro" crew can calm down. Nothings changed, except expediency of prosecuting what is already a crime.
