so i guess for me a good analogy is: the government sells drugs because it stops dealers selling. it is still not good for the community and they are getting a 15% cut.

That's from the FAQ.In the real-money auction-house, for equipment such as weapons and armor, a fixed transaction fee(~$1) will be deducted from the seller for each piece of equipment successfully sold. This fee is assessed only if the item is sold. For commodities such as crafting materials, gems, gold, and other “stackable” items, a 15% transaction fee will be deducted from the total sale price.
Note that sending proceeds to PayPal will be subject to an additional 15% transfer fee if the auction succeeds, calculated based on the amount being transferred. Note that additional fees from PayPal may apply.
This Ladies and Gentleman is why i simply don't care about Blizzards Safe alternative to those dodgy 3rd party sites i used to sell / buy items off in D2.
Can't people grasp this simple idea,
back in D2 days these websites used to cheat, steal and exploit money from players looking to buy and sell gear.
I now can safely sell my gold, spend some monies on weapons (don't bitch about people buying on the RMAH, my time is more important IRL than farming). Plus if you say why bother: PVP = Domination time =D
Couldn't care less, but I do worry for the mental state of people who would pay over £5-10 for an item.
Wait, won't Blizzard themselves put up gold for money? At a fixed rate?
Or is it just players selling gold to others for real cash?
Nyoro~n? (´・ω・`)
WoW, Sub Decline, and Age:Sigh, it's like trying to run a school but there's no children being born. Eventually everyone will graduate.
If anything, I lost respect for the player base. Things like RMAH are only there because there's obviously a willingness to invest real money for a couple of shiny pixels. Any company would be foolish not to react to that. But if you're concerned about what is happening to gaming and turned off by the mentality it's being plagued by, you shouldn't blame Blizzard, but the players.
I've also lost a lot of respect for gaming communities since it has become so popular to have these ridiculous "company XXX is greedy and EVIL" mindsets.
Of course you can. But you can't make threads preaching to others about how 'Blizzard is evil' when you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about.
I wouldn't go to a car forum and talk about how I don't like the engine systems Ferrari have just changed to or whatever, when I know sod all about cars.
Only players selling gold. For now...Will Blizzard sell anything directly through the gold- or real-money auction house?
All items in the gold- and real-money auction house are placed up for sale by other players. We don't have any plans at this time to post items for sale in the gold- or real-money auction house directly.
I lost my respect for Blizzard a few years ago, back when the early stages of rot and corruption began to reveal themselves. I'm not one who jumps on the bandwagon to hate something, either - I am genuinely passionate about gaming and worry for what the future will bring to impact upon the enjoyment of my hobby. Corporate greed is to blame to a large extent, but many companies - Blizzard included - no longer have the same drive or passion to cater to the needs of the original target audience.
Well i've been playing blizzard games for over 10 years, but i guess you are have a better understanding on how i feel than i do. if you read my posts i always say it it just my opinion. you sound very arrogant.
i can have an opinion on a car even if i dont understand the engine btw

I'm just going to say the obvious line here, 'You're just now loosing respect for them? Where've you been?'
