my favs (of the top of my head):
- TMNT: Manhattan project/Bucky O'hare (and some other NES konami games)
- fallout 1/2
- diablo 1/2
- vanilla wow
My favorite video game song of all time is...
For me it had to be this game which I spent countless hours playing as a child on my Playstation, the soundtrack was really something, definitely on par or even better than Final Fantasy. Behold Grandia!
Consider this starting everytime there is enough action going on. Battles in this game often tend to be somewhat epic in size.

Also lets not forget starcraft1 musics. Often I picked the race which I wanted to play due to musics. I'll link just the best here, but most of them are awesome

Somehow when thinking game musics good olds like Red Alert hellmarch comes to my mind.
Red Alert 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WqwFhX6Cqg
Why are all these strategy games ;/ .
Other than that, I can easily pick musics from Skyrim like the dragon fight musics and its theme.
I actually played duke nukem 3d when it came out. I also like its theme music

I'm also a fan of heroes of might and magic. Though I havent played the newest ones, I used to love some of the city musics in games like HoMM3. Just linking one of them here as an example.

There are a lot of musics that I like in games. I dont understand why many people turn them off. Maybe I'm weird that I like game musics when I barely listen to any other music otherwise.
I totally forgot about some really good music! Lords of Magic. So good.

Checked out Rayman: Origins tonight. The music (and game) is actually freaking amazing. Definite addition.
Mountains rise in the distance stalwart as the stars, fading forever.
Roads ever weaving, soul ever seeking the hunter's mark.
From little known PSOne fighting Kensei Sacred Fist.
Also this one from Titan Quest (a 2005's game that's still better than diablo 3 -- couldn't resist)
Truly epic.

Metal Gear Solid and the Halo series top the list for me.
I'd say most of Warcraft games had great music. Not too cheesy yet good and appropriate.
The 7 disc compilation that is Grand Theft Auto Vice City.
Instead of listing soundtracks I will list my favorite composers in order:
Masato Kouda (Monster Hunter)
Jeremy Soule (Guild Wars 1/2 and TES)
Koji Kondo (Nintendo)
Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasies up to XII)
MechWarrior 2. - one of the first and still one of the best.
The quake series had good music, as did the original Unreal
sound track to Freedom Fighters
and of course, World of Warcraft - each release has had great music ... and some that is simply awesome
