    Green Hologram NPC Model-Replacements

    Hey

Does anybody know how to disable this feature?

    Thanks

Unfortunately there is current not a Option to disable these in-game :/

And Also don't kid yourself. There Giant Green Condoms not Holograms :P

Yes I agree with you partially but I would sacrifice those benefits for decreased "visible model" load times and (most importantly for me) increased immersion in the game world.

I have Rift on an SSD (Crucial M4 128g) and I still get to see the holograms from time to time.

Same, Corsair Force 3 on a Sata III 6GB interface, I get 500MB+ read/write speeds, still see them all the time in Sanctum, and where ever else it gets busy. You get used to it.

Well surely it's a slow internet connection speed that triggers it?

No, it'll be a tiny amount of data to tell you what to display. Also I have a 60Mb fibre connection to myself, with extremely low latency. I'm not sure what the cause is to be honest, but it's more likely load times on models and textures etc.

Elrar posted about this back in early May

    Hey all,

As some of you might know we've been working behind the scenes to get a streaming client ready for its debut - this means shorter downloads and ultimately less waiting to play!

These replacement models you're seeing is the client trying to render a model it doesn't have the data for yet and should only really be an issue after updates or if you have a period of high latency when receiving the data.

Obviously feel free to continue sharing feedback and let us know how it's impacting your experience - thanks all!
    later he added:

Yeah - that's pretty much the point, we thought this was a better solution than let you get wailed in the face by an invisible assailant or having to wait 10 seconds for the Porticulum Master to draw in the middle of prime time on a Sunday night.

I was going to ask for a screen shot of this next time if possible. I'm drawing a blank on this and don't recall seeing this. I never start my game prior to streaming download completion since I've got a decent internet connection so maybe this is why I don't see it?

Its entirely possible. I live in New Zealand so tend to sit at around 200ms (if I'm not having a laggy period where it can go higher) and see them to a limited extent whenever I get into the cities initially. Last night I had to go down to using some wireless as a temporary access to the internet and noticed much more of it. Its not for overly long though - maybe twenty seconds at the worst before they've all pretty much been rendered.

I'd say its more connection than processing speed.

I managed to capture them as I ported into Sanctum tonight, they disappear in the space of about 10-20 seconds for me.

Yeh someone has just posted a pic, problem is I've never run the game prior to full download of updates - so why do I see them?

I wonder that too, I always fully download as I have very fast connection to myself.

I wonder if this a Sanctum thing I primarily play defiant and don't recall ever seeing them there.
