I've never seen the movie but The Fountain has a great score.

I have to say the Lion King aswell, also a lot of the music that's not in the film but from the musical and so on is really nice too. Endless Night from the musical aswell as the song Lea Halalela are my favourites from outside the film!

    Avatar
    A Beautiful Mind
    Apollo 13
    Titanic
    Braveheart
    and more

If you like film score type music you might also want to check out
    Two Steps From Hell
    ES Posthumus
Who both make trailer/filmscore type music of varying genres/moods but all pretty epic

Great track. Can't go wrong with any Pixar movie honestly. Even their latest Cars 2 (which wasn't the best) was still great. Brave looks amazing.

I firmly believe that those who compose great motion picture soundtracks are our generation's Bach, Beethoven, and Motzart.

Think about it. During the early composers time, that is how people were entertained. In our time, they provide a backdrop to our entertainment.

    Jurassic Park
    Braveheart
    Last of the Mohicans
    Dances with Wolves

    (Yes I like sweeping scores)
In my day we didn't have World of Warcraft or Guild Wars. We had World War 2, and when you shot at the Germans it aggroed five thousand of their friends!

That's because Clint Mansell is amazing. Adding Mogwai to the mix makes it even better. That's my favorite original soundtrack / score. Surprised no one mentioned Requiem for a Dream, also by Clint Mansell.

As for soundtracks that are collection of songs by various artists, I love the Dazed and Confused soundtracks. Love the 70's rock.

I agree with most of the stuff listed, so here's a few that haven't been mentioned:

    The Nightmare Before Christmas
    The Last Samurai
The Hunchback of Notre Dame <-- most underrated soundtrack.

Yeah Drive was a good call actually.

One I always liked, and that really fitted the film, was Panoramic from The Book of Eli.

Edit: Wow, I managed to spell "Yeah" wrong. Can't live with that.

    Hehe, totally bookmarked this thread

I like the older film themes from my childhood - Robocop, Back to the Future, Star Wars, Jurrasic Park and so on, but one of THE most memorable films for me as a child was watching the Star Trek films.

Especially Wrath of Khan. I was mesmerized as a 6, 7 year old. Particularly some of the parts where the ship to ship combat took place:

The themes in the entire movie were brilliant. The music playing in the scene of Spock's death was incredibly beautiful.

You'd think the 8th Anniversary was the Cheese Anniversary to go with all the whine.

In no order and right off the bat:

Star Wars, especially The Empire Strikes Back (John Williams)
    The Mission (Ennio Morricone)
The Good, The Bad and the Ugly (Ennio Morricone)
    The Abyss (Alan Sylvestri)
    Edward Scissorhands (Danny Elfman)

Others that have been named are also on my top list, like Lord of the Rings.
