If you can ditch the $100 for Windows7(friend giving you it) I would suggest upgrading the GPU to a 560TI. If you can squeeze out an additional $30 the Asus/Sapphire/MSI 7850's would be well worth it.(they run ~240)

Don't forget that to run Windows you not only need the software, but also a valid authentication key, which is what costs the money.

Battlefield 3 will run ~35-40 FPS at 1920x1080- resolution in 32- player maps.

Long story short, both greens and blue are among the most reliable HDDs available.

Caviar Green = Energy / Noise savings at the cost of somewhat drastic performance losses (mostly access times).
Caviar Black = Performance gains at the cost of power consumption and noise.
Caviar Blue = Happy middle ground between both.

Most people opt for Blue / Black. Green would really cripple loading times and in-game disc access, causing FPS stutters.

I would swap that processor out in the future. It will be your primary bottleneck.

Try fitting in a 200 dollar i5 on an 800 dollar budget that needs a monitor and a windows 7 license, you simply can't do it :/

I said in the future. Not on this current build

It will keep him going a few years, then he can upgrade to whatever is new in 2014 or 2015 For 80 bucks it really is a brilliant processor.
