I thought the same thing about the Sauron/Vegeta thread. After all, despite how close it was, Vegeta had the lead for a majority of the fight.

Sauron and Vegeta they were close the entire time, this thread Magikarp was in a dead lead and suddenly Mario magically caught up, it does not seem logical.

Ahahaha what a funny match up. But yeah I agree with this. I think Mario would be prepared to fight Magikarp, but not the other way around. Even if Magikarp evolved, Mario has significant experience with defeating dinosaurs and crap. Gyrados isn't a dinosaur, more of a water dragon, but I think Mario could handle it.

(Nah, in all honesty, if I went back and played a mario game again, I'd probably eat a bunch of deaths. It took more patience and precision back then, where as often we can afford to be a little careless in our games these days)

God is pretty hyperbolic. Magikarp is mostly a joke, yes, but he's not the completely useless fish that can only learn splash like he was in Gen1. His high armor and thrashes can be pretty effective. Mario is actually extremely underpowered when you think about it. His moves consist of jumping on their heads or hitting them with a hammer. He can wear one hat/suit at a time, and really, the only notable one is the fire flower. His success comes from fighting the mass of untrained henchman sent by the comical villain Bowser, and in most games he dies in one or two hits(even the 3d ones). The only actually "powerful" Mario that exists is Paper Mario.

I don't know, Mario is also pretty powerful in Super Mario RPG, not just Paper Mario.

You guys seriously have to admit that Mario isn't very good against fishes. If Mario was fighting Blastoise or something, I'd be all about Mario winning! He's great at kicking turtle ass, but fish? Oh man fish.... those things.... those things will get you if you're not careful

That's assuming he's still kept it after all these fights! Also, those flying cheep cheeps that come at you forever and just keep spawning will get you even with a fire flower. Trust me, you think you're invincible, and then before you know it BAM you lost your fire flower and now you're totally defenseless!
