You should have about 1500 valor points saved up.
1250 for the amulet that you can buy at Neutral.
250+1000 for that week = 1250vp for the ring at Friendly.
You could use more depending on what gear you currently have and what's an upgrade, but if you're close to BiS I believe that's the general idea.
So unless for some reason 5.2 isn't this Tuesday or they suddenly decide to make some class changes on Monday, our AoE wont get (further) buffed.
Eventually the buff to our AoE was from the seal and SoL changes.
Was kinda hopping for some ds love =(

What GC meant to say was we are "Separate but equal". Like we can sit in the same charts just on different parts of the charts.

Pretty "meh" still. While we did get some buffs (5% SoL i.e.) other classes - that did more damage than Ret pre-patch - got buffs too and will now do even more damage than we did before. I can't tell for sure, but I'd even say we're off worse (without new T15 that is).
Patch live tomorrow - What happened to AoE tuning???
Those that are familiar with the fights, will our weak AoE be substantial this tier? What I mean is, are there enough fights that depend on strong AoE to warrant bringing a better melee than Ret?
First of all, it's not guaranteed that it's patch tomorrow, there's no blue posts that specificly say that 5.2 will be live on march 5th or 6th.
Secondly, classes are balanced after population and not performance/representation at high level (pve or pvp) which means there's many, many ret paladins in the game atm which blizzard don't want to encourage more of. In short, reroll and you'll be more likely to play a class/spec that has a better performance level.
Thirdly, 5.2 is far from ready if you look at heroic testing, if they still decide to roll out 5.2 as it was on the latest PTR build then prepare for some heartbreaking encounters (if you get picked for raid which is unlikely if you got specs in your guild with strong cleave etc) where soft enrages and extremely punishing mechanics is designed to fuck you over, espeacially melee.
5.2 really needs another 2+ weeks IMO, to figure out the heroic bosses which are completely broken (hello Ji'Kun and Tortos) and figure out the last class balancing issues.
btw, end of this tier watch out for firemages and warriors. They'll be crazy close to a point of crit where they'll explode and destroy absolutely everything in sight.
No I was the one talking to GC on that entire tweet, classes ARE balanced around population and "feedback". Because there's a ton of paladins and rets out there it gives the idea that the class is good enough for people to play = not needing as much attention as other classes/specs do, look at monks for 5.2 and the ammount of changes they recieved. Yes "performance" matters but if you read GC tweets they don't use simc, meters or things like that to decide who needs changes they go by feedback mostly and since there's not much feedback from "high rated/skill" rets there's not much they can see and IF rets gets too strong everyone shouts because we got bubble.
simc singletarget T15 hc means nothing. I can tell you right now that moonkins will own next tier, same with all multidot specs or specs with strong cleave...
And i agree, specs below us are either classes that can play superior spec or are simply better on multitarget fights, that said we are still bottom.
Well yes but you have to use Simc for what they're intended to do, figure out stat weights, rotation, trinket values and so on. Just because Simc say we're bottom dps doesn't mean we'll be useless (even in terms of damage) on all fights. Couple fights have damage % increases which benefit rets more than other specs, but yes... if you go by simc we're bot, just as we were previous tier and the one before that. See a pattern?
