I am wondering what other people think about this build, if some part is not worth the price, or there is a better part that could be substituted instead. I would like to keep the budget as it is around 1400 dollars.

You can swap the CPU to an i5-3570k to save $100. Unless you livestream or video edit, an i7 is not needed (gaming doesn't support hyper threading).

OT: I've built 7 machines and when choosing a power supply I mostly go off intuition. You MAY need something. Bigger with that beefy graphics card. Even a 600w or 650w might do the trick. I know there are wattage calculators out there to help you out.

I would recommend an SSD if you can squeeze it in. It cut my boot time in half and is much better than any platter drive. The only other comments I would have are for brand, which is subjective. Only one time I did NOT get an Antec power supply, and that's the only one that I've had to replace. I love ASUS for mobos, either XFX or eVGA for graphics card. Also with such a massive system, consider a larger monitor or possibly dual screens. Of course that depends on your desk setup.

Overall for your first system, it seems like it would work just fine. Good luck with the assembly! That CPU lever gets me nervous EVERY TIME! lol

May I ask, why would you put a 600 / 650W PSU to a system that barely needs 400, fully overclocked? If I knew you had a valid point (such as the lack of connectors), a 550 could be recommended, but going for a 600/650 is just nonsense.

Antec PSUs are reliable, yes, but also very expensive. If you want a good PSU with stable voltage, go for the Seasonic M520W

Change your SSD into a 128 Gb (Samsung 830) or 120 Gb (Crucial m4) - you won't get to install more than 1 game (+OS) if you take a 64 Gb version.

Don't ever get XFX / eVGA GPU, their aftermarket cooling solutions are far behind Asus' DC2, MSi's TF & Gigabyte's WF3x.
