GW2: Sylvari Character creation

I didn't like this (or Asura afros) at Gamescom and I don't like it now.
At best it goes against their not being able to make stupid looking characters design goal. At worst it risks making a joke out of a player race.

Theres a bit more leway with a non human race. Afterall we have no frame of referance what is "Normal" for another race. On the other hand its easy to tell when we see what is soposed to be a human with very strange proportions. Think about it, a human with leaves growing out of random body parts would look pretty silly but for a sylvari their entire body is shaped out of leaves and plant matter.

If you watch the development video on the sylvari, you'll see that they did precisely that. They went from leafy humans wearing normal clothes to leafy humans wearing leafy clothes to humany leaves wearing leafy clothes. They pretty much went 180 degrees on their initial idea which actually made this race 100% more interesting.

He is asking if they have left in the same option since that beta build. Many things have changed since gamescom 2011 which makes the removal of some colours from the sylvari skin spectrum quite possible.

I don't see any reason to remove a feature such as the color for the sylvari though so either way its most likely still in.

Well, there are often good reasons to remove colours, especially strong ones such as black, red and white, as they may conflict with armor designs, lore or some other aspect of the game. It wouldn't surprise me if there were half the colours available now than last year at gamescom.
But hey, I'm not havin a go I really hope its still there myself.

Was kinda wondering why they need leafs over the crotch area and boobs if they are tree people? Do they even have sex, blossoming from a tree? I'm sure people will role play it like they do on Moon Guard in Gold Shire Inn(If you have never been there its a good laugh).

Other then that they actually look a lot better then I thought they would. The first concepts I saw of them I didn't like to much but the current product is pretty damn awesome looking especially the plate armor and Mesmer. I may have to make one for looks. Was curious about the story line and thought that was reason enough but now I have two.

I'm glad that Anet decided to stay away from the JRPG clothing style. And even more so that they distanced themselves from whatever the hell it is they're wearing in tera... Combat threads? Designer rags? Battle thongs? Jiggly boobs? That game is way too oversexualised.

Actually I was thinking that there boobs would be kinda just round bumps on there skin that wouldn't bounce being made of a plant and such. With maybe a flat crouch but the leafs made me think they actually had something to hide XD. I wonder if thorns would be an std?

Lore-wise they mimicked the human form. Humans choose to cover those areas with coverings so the sylvari did too. They are a very young race, maybe 20 years old as I recall. Because they dont have any traditions of their own they just imitate those around them, including various types of body covverings.
