My DK tank is being crit consistently :/

Hi all. So I recently dinged my DK here to 85, in fact it was just 2 days ago. I am not new to DK tanking as this is my 2nd DK. The other one I deleted at lvl 84 and had used him as main tank throughout WotLK.

I have been tanking dungeons a lot the last 2 days and today I did LFR as well and I notice that even though i have specced 2/2 in improved blood presence and I am in blood presence I am still getting crit, quite often as well. I have managed to get a screenshot of it many times but it was hard since the combat text scrolls so fast but I finally got one and here it is:

That was from my Well of Eternity run about an hour ago. It happened a lot in the last 2 days. Yesterday, again in Well of Eternity, the first boss crit me for 110k and I nearly died as a result. I did Hour of Twilight today and was crit several times in that run as well. Even in LFR I was still crit which was most noticeable on Hagara's trash in which I was crit several times and was even crit by Hagara herself for 60k.

From what I have seen it only ever seems to be physical damage that crits me, not spell damage. Anyone else experience this?

It's a known bug. If it happens, you should be able to fix it by just changing presence to frost (or unholy, whichever you prefer) and back to blood. If this still doesn't resolve the issue, try changing to your secondary spec and back to blood.

Edit: Btw, this doesn't fix the problem forever. The bug can reappear any time you zone in somewhere.

Yep. Still getting critted as well.

Ah I see. Thanks for the tip. Kind of crazy that it hasn't been fixed yet considering it is such a big problem O.o

Of course it only effects physical damage, mobs can't crit with spells.

Jesus christ, I remember back in BWD/BoT (could have been FL, don't remember) our DK tank kept dropping on certain bosses, looking at the logs it showed him being crit and we both were like "wut"? I can't believe it's still around.

idd spells cannot crit from npcs, this is due to the fact of often raid damage is spell damage, and and heroic modes are tuned to push healing, if players took 1-2 crits via rng you'd likely die to something you couldnt or even attempt to avoid.

It happens, though it's usually pretty rare.

I looked through the last month of logs on World of Logs and didn't see any crits. I do remember getting crit by Ultraxion one time though, but that was months ago.

I haven't experienced the bug in months but yes it does still happen. People have posted about it forever but the devs never fixed it. As previous posters said: switch presences then back to blood and it won't happen again...for awhile.

Remember also that any mobs that have an increased chance to crit you can crit though Improved Blood Presence. Tank crit suppression is just a 6% suppression, not immunity.

Happens to our DK tank on Zon'Ozz and Baleroc every now and then. He now ritualistically switches presences every time he zones.

Happens to me too, just change presence every time you zone somewhere and hope for the best. :/

The bug has been around since Wrath days. I don't have much hope for it getting fixed. It does happen with mobs that don't have any increased crit chance effects, so that's not the problem.

They should attempt to fix it, it would be kinda nice.. last night i got crit on heroic zon'ozz.. blood shield absorbs 70k of it and i still get hit for another 130k is kinda stupid.
