((I know :P Also keep in mind everyone is in awe at the ettin that has appeared.))
((I wrote up this nice reply, then my comp shut down.. I'll re-do it later.. lol.. ))
((Oh, it was. I'll write it up, though if it seems unfair or to straightforward, I'll edit it. XD))
Vel stood in shock at seeing the ettin.
But only for a moment.
The ettin stomped about, brandishing its weapons, smashing Forsaken here and there. Velirra nocked an arrow, and distantly heard Emberfire cawing.
No, she sent the thought out to her companion. He's mine. It's time I prove myself.
She sensed reluctance, but was glad when she felt Emberfire agree to hang back. "Right then," she muttered, and took aim. She loosed the arrow at the ettin, and watched it puncture the ettin's thigh. It stopped, turned, and roared in fury at her, then began to make its way over to her. Vel turned, and began sprinting towards a cliff, where a massive conclave of boulders sat waiting high above her head. She quickly slipped her bow on to her shoulder, and began to build a trap. She heard the ettin's steps coming closer, feeling the tremors run through the ground, and felt her hands begin to shake.
She took a deep breath, struggling to steady them as she built the trap. Stay still, blast it, she thought, but heard the ettin roar loudly, shaking the ground, vibrating through her chest.
With a small cry of triumph, she finished the trap and quickly set it up, feeling the ettin's thundering steps draw nearer. She stood and turned, facing the monster, her emerald eyes widening at how tall it was this close.
She saw it swing its club, and she knew she would be too slow to draw her bow and fire. So, she prepared herself, and then looked in confusion as the ettin instead lowered its shoulder and charged her. She somersaulted out of the way, and let the ettin step on the spiked trap. She sprinted, putting on a burst of speed as the trap exploded, engulfing the poor ettin in flames. The orange-yellow flames licked up the ettin's body as it crashed in to the cliffside. The conclave of boulders began to break apart, and collapsed. The massive boulders bounced off the ettin's body as they fell, and Vel could hear bones cracking as it was buried in an instant grave, the scent of charred flesh still in the frosty air. She stood, panting, looking at the mound of stones, and fell to her knees, the breath coming heavily from her.
The ogres watched in horror as the ettin was crushed by a small woman's trap. The attack immediatly dispersed and the ogres ran into the mountain passes and toward Alterac.
Aldoss finished retrieving his rope from his last victim. The spear came out of the ogre's spine easily, but the rope was engulfed in gore. He staggered back a bit and reach into the mass of guts with both hands. He rips them out and thrusts them over the mountain-side. He finally has his rope and ties it around his spear's hilt, just in case he has need for a makeshift harpoon again. He turns and spots the dead ogres and Forsaken lining the road. "Cheveyos!" She stumbles from up the road and catches up to Aldoss after a moment, "Yes Aldoss, are you alright?" Aldoss nods and sheathes his spear on his back wearily, "Yeah, what about you, the adventurers?" Cheveyos looks around, "Sir, I have no idea. I need to get an idea on how we've lost." Aldoss nodded, "I'm sure the mercs will find one of us anyway."
A green beam could be seen toward the back of the road. It criss-crosses over numerous Forsaken soldiers and rejuvenates them. The Wishdoctor smirks from behind his water totems, "Don't worry mon, I'll get ya bags of bones back inta shape." He watches as the undead slowly rise to their feet and walk past him toward Aldoss in the distance. "So, you were asking about Grey history?" The Wishdoctor nods as he gazes ever forward to his patients, They all look de same anyway, no need to turn around "Well I'll give you something to think about, we were called the Sargrenelles, the blood of Sargeras, because we were demon worshippers." The Wishdoctor is taken by suprise and turns to the monogomous looking soldier. "We fought the Light wielding humans back even before Stromgarde." The troll's mouth hands open, "Why would you worsip dat monsta mon?" Another soldier that passes by mentions, "Keep in mind, this is before humanity worshipped the Light, they were still deciding on who was good and who was evil." The Wishdoctor looks back to the trooper from before, "Why mention dis mon?" The soldier smiled, "Because you asked."
Vel, still feeling the adrenaline pumping through her veins from the brief combat, shouldered her bow and turned, rejoining the rest of the Forsaken soldiers. Her vibrant emerald eyes swept over the force, and then she blinked. Where did the two Greys go? she thought to herself, mildly curious. "Hmm," she droned, tapping her chin with her fingers.
Josh walked back from where he had been killing the ogres, towards the grey. His outfit was suprisingly still mostly white, with only a couple of blood stains around his hands and arms. On his way back he cleaned off the blood, so his outfit was white as the snow again. He easily spotted the Greys, and when he was walking he overheard "We were demon worshippers." Atleast they aren't afraid to say it. He thought to himself.
The Death knight arrived just after Josh at the Grey's, but her hearing meant she didn't hear a whole lot of what was being said. Her previously black / Dark purple outfit was currently red with all the blood from the ogres, with some pink here and there from pieces of guts and brain that had splattered over her. "I'm intrigued at how you managed to stay so clean during the fight Undead." She said.
Vel watched first the Undead arrive, then the death knight, and listened to them talk, as well as the conversation going on between the Forsaken and the troll. She stood, staring at their lack of attention, and shook her head. Finally, the sin'dorei huntress marched right up to the death knight and Undead.
"Haven't you both realized that both Aldoss and Cheveyos are missing? Maybe, instead of standing around making idle talk with one another, we should go and find them." She strung her bow and whistled. Moments later, Emberfire appeared, coming down from the cloudy skies, her crimson scales splotched with blood. "Or am I going to go and find them by myself?"
"Patience isn't a virtue you have it seems" Josh said. "I'm not worried yet, give it a couple of minutes". He looked down at the ground, hoping to get an idea of what had actually happened to them, but found no drag marks. "Just look at the ground, there's no drag marks and ogres aren't clever enough to hide their tracks. And lifting them wouldn't help much, seeing as they're both capable fighters."
Vel growled in irritation, fire in her eyes. "I know that," she snapped. "But haven't you realized that ogres may not have been the cause of their disappearance?"
She stopped, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath. Letting it out slowly, she turned and started scratching Emberfire on the neck. "I'm sorry. Just worried, that's all."
Emberfire squawked in agreement, blowing a tiny puff of flame on the ground beside her.
Aldoss appears from the lines of the preparing Forsaken. "Sorry to keep you all waiting, but we're ready to move on. Follow us to Alterac." He turns and follows his soldiers along the road. The path leads up the slopes underneath tattered arches. Ogres can be seen occasionally running back into the mountains. Aldoss is still in front of the group, "Troll, I understand you're interested in our history. May I ask why?" The Wishdoctor looks up to the plate clad behemoth, "Just curious mon." Aldoss nods as he walks up the slope. "I'd like to assure you that we have no affiliation with demons. We may have once, but we're completely dedicated to the Forsaken." The Wishdoctor nods quickly, "No doubt mon." Aldoss then scans the rest of the mercenaries, "That goes for all of you. We're the good guys. I'd like to be honest with you all, any questions about us, just ask."
Alterac comes into sight over a hill leading to a set of large arches and columns. Ogres fire spells and thrust axes toward the oncoming invaders. Cheveyos screams from the front, "Shield high!!" The Greys raise their shields and deflect the projectiles and absord most of the spells. Aldoss gets behind some shieldmenand motions for the adventurers to do the same. "Let's go! Behind the shields, we'll get inside with a phalanx!"
Vel quickly took cover, while Emberfire flew high above the attacking ogres and dived in on them from the skies. "She'll distract them while we move forward!" Vel cried, drawing her bow and nocking an arrow. She found an opening between the shieldmen, and fired the arrow up, so it arced in to the ogre lines. The arrow impacted in to the snow-blanketed ground, missing all her targets. They laughed and roared, mocking her.
Until the arrow exploded, anyway.
Numerous nearby ogres were engulfed in flames, while the rest were seriously injured from the explosion. Vel grinned fiercely, the fire coming back to her emerald eyes. "Laugh that up, fools," she growled under her breath, nocking another arrow and ducking behind the Forsaken shieldmen. She could hear the sounds of pain as Emberfire lit the ogres ablaze with her breath, and raked at them with her talons. This is getting interesting, Vel thought to herself, jumping out and taking aim once more.
The death knight laughed as the rest of the warriors hid inside their Phalanx. She started running towards the ogre line, as a small green bubble appeared around her, Absorbing the spells the Ogre's threw at her. A few ones made it through her bubble but not enough to stop her run. Just before she got in melee range, something exploded just behind the Ogre lines, making her stop completely. Hehe, nice arrow there Blood elf she thought to herself as she noticed it wasn't a failed spell from one of the magi's. She Unsheathed her sword, and in the same motion blocked an axe, and killed an ogre. She spinned around her self, merely for looks, before cutting the legs off a nearby ogre, and then proceeding to cut open his guts while dodging a fireball.
Josh ran around to the backside of the ogre line. One ogre noticed him on his way back there, That ogre was met with a dagger right between his eyes. When he was 5 meters behind the ogre line he turned around in a wide arch and ran back towards them, about in the middle of their line. He quickly coated his daggers in another layer of poison before piercing an ogres heart, leaving it to bleed for a couple of seconds before dying, Josh made quick work of the first 4-5 ogres, after that they had noticed him, so he couldn't move about as easily because ogres were in the way trying to stop him. He used on ogre as a stepping stone to back a back-flip. While in the air he slit 2 ogre's throats, spinned around and threw a dagger into the foot of another ogre, making it stand still so he could land on it, breaking it's neck as he did so.
"Company, rush!" The Greys arrive in the city walls with the help of their phalanx. They break formation and attack the ogres inside. The ogres weren't much of a match for the well trained Greys, but they were tough, abnormally. As the Greys hack at them, the ogres glow purple. An arcane shield is being channeled from somewhere nearby and it gives the ogres unprecedented endurance. Aldoss appears with Cheveyos to his side, the adventurers behind. "Let's go, for the Forsaken!" He charges forward and hacks off and ogres throat, he spins and aims low, amashing another one's ankles. The ogre falls and Aldoss chops into the beast's stomach. The ogre glows violet, but the shield cracks allowing Aldoss' blow to slice open the ogre's bowels. "We need to find the source of this shield! Cheveyos, take the adventurers into their hollow and see if the source is in there! We'll attract their attention!"
Cheveyos nods and motions for the adventurers to follow. They traverse the city gates and spot an ogre hovel in the distance at the side of an old iron mine. The entrance is guarded by five ogres with large clubs and they spot the incoming party.
((I'm not gonan be here until around Aug 5th, so Vel's gonna be having a nap [not for real] until I'm back haha))
((Ok, dead guards incoming))
Josh moved around the hut, standing a couple of meters behind the 5 guards. He quietly loaded his Crossbow and unsheathed his sword. Josh then quickly jumped out of his cover, shooting the far guard in the throat, while severing the nearest guards spine. He dropped the crossbow to have less weight to deal with during the fight. Just after he dropped the crossbow, one of the ogres noticed him and tried to hit with his mace. Josh quickly dodged out of the way, using the ogres momentum to easier cut its leg off, leaving it to bleed for a while, while killing the rest. Josh jumped off the back of the ogre, summersaulted over another, stabbed it in the heart and then ripped the sword out, in the same movement he cut the throat of the last guard. "You can come now if you want" he yelled at the small party as he killed off the ogre with one leg that just barely got up again.
The death knight laughed slightly at Josh's little show. Nice display, and great control over the sword and his enemies. She thought as she walked to the small hut with the Greys.
With the guards defeated, Cheveyos, Wishdoctor, Josh, Velirra and the death knight entered the cavernous ogre hovel. The entrance brimmed with arcane energy pouring through, an arcanist of great power resided here and the party was going to stop them. As they delve deeper into the earth the walls become more and more spacious and less and less bright. They enter darkness, "I ask that you leave, or....ME CRISP YOUS!" The voices sound opposite, one calm and low, one shrill and high. A blast of light appears from the darkness and the cave is made clear. An ogre with two heads stands upon a stone and watches the adventurers with great intent. "I will not ask again...SCREW IT!" The ogre casts a huge fireball towards the group; Cheveyos runs in front and raises her shield.
The inferno hits and flames erupt all over the cavern walls. "Someone kill him, quick!"
