How do locks deal with trash?

Hey. I'm fairly new to the Warlock class and am currently leveling one. I've noticed that it's quite hard to deal with trash since it dies too fast. What do locks do with trash? Deal with how fast it dies and just try to get in as much dots as possible or spam and aoe?

aff can spam seed of corruption
demo can just rain of fire and bladestorm with their felguard
destro can just rain of fire

all specs can just afk if they're dyign that fast, they don't need you anyway. if something isn't living 15+ seconds it's a waste of time to put a dot up

If trash is dying to fast and you can just spam AoE, just don't kill everyone's main target. For example on Yor'shaj's adds the tank usually puts up a skull, just dot the 2nd kill target instead (this is only if trash is actually dying quickly, otherwise you want to still just dot skull up).

But in all reality, trash doesn't really matter a whole lot and warlocks do have a high ramp up time so don't expect amazing numbers on trash pulls.

I usually see Warlocks just using Hellfire on trash pulls, if there is a lot of them and they will die really fast.

There's not much you can really do when it comes to burst. Although at 85 affliction is the multi-dot king so certain trash is very fun. I'm looking at you Zonozz tentacles.
For the most part affliction burst is fixed in Mists, and is in fact quite strong. Demononlogy has lost it's burst because demon form is no longer a cooldown but a resource spender. Destruction needs embers for its best burst, but it isn't really that week to begin with.

Currently though DoT ramp up and lack of heavy damage spells, combined with a bad pet AI means burst is virtually non-existent.

We're still the best class though /flex

I don't know if it has been updated since Wrath but the rule I've gone by is if the target is going to live less than 10 seconds it is more dps to just spam shadowbolt (as afflic). If the target is going to live more than 10 seconds dot it up. How I handle typical DS trash is just dot everything.

as destro its better to put some immo on the targets and start doing single target dps.
atleast im doing more dps like that than when i use rain of fire.

I just UA and Corruption everything that moves and then single target the highest hp

Rain of fire = Bad. Use shadowflame when you can and if you are demo hellfire. If you are destruction it takes a lot of mobs to warrant using rain of fire, usually you are better off putting banes on different targets and continue your single target rotation + shadowflame on cooldown if in melee range. As a warlock you will never really have a chance on AoE pulls compared to other classes. :P

As affliction, the obvious answer is seed of corruption, just remember that to detonate your target needs to take damage so make sure that it will.

plastics with a a number 1 or 2 on the bottom can be recycled.

Cardboard, newsprint, magazines and paper no longer need to be separated, but in any case must not be food soiled.

Do not put broken glass in the glass recycling bin.

Separate all vegetable trash (including bread, fruit, vegetables) for composting, but do not but any meats, dairy products into the compost bin.

On that note I've been playing quite a bit on beta and Seed of Corruption is still garbage, the cast time is too long and the damage isn't high enough. You end up casting it once with Soulburn to spread Corruption, dottting then spamming Harvest Life.

Warlocks are the best to farm with as well as quest with imo. You can just dot up like 30 enemies (without being too geared for your level), and just aoe them down when they all catch up to you, granted you know they cant kill you and are not elites. This only works as affliction (thats why i used affliction to level). Destro is more like immolate conflagrate and any instant you can to finish them off. Demon is more immolate engage, pet, shadowbolt hopefully dead. But yeah I found affliction best to level for its high survivability.

As a warlock, its very easy:
Affliction - Demon Soul (FH), Soulburn: SoC, then spam it on the same target
Destro - Stick to Immo/Corr on multiple targets, and use Conflag on CD
Demo - Oooooh boy, big numbers! Demon Soul (FG), Moonwell Chalice, Meta, Immo Aura, Hellfire, Felstorm(FG), if you have semi decent gear, get ready for HUGE numbers. 8 )

Nowadays the best spec to deal with trash it's demonology, for example on DS 25-30% nerf the trash dies sooo quickly.

Affliction- Demon Soul, Soulburn(SOC), Shadowflame and spam SOC.

Demonology- Demon Soul, Metamorphosis, Felstorm, wait for proc's (Lightweave/Power Torrent) until you use Immolation Aura if doesn't happens don't bother to wait for that, Hand of Gul'dan ,Shadowflame and Hellfire.

Destruction- Soul Fire pre-pull, BOH if that target will survive longer then others, Immolate/ Corruption ,Shadowflame, Conflagrate on CD and spam Incinerate. Do NOT USE Rain of Fire, it's useless, only trash pack I can see it viable it's Haggara's trash.

Warlocks are generally weak on trash fights, there's not much you can do it because of ramp up time.

I'm affliction, what I'll usually do is put corruption and/or curse of agony on stuff that's not CCed or the primary skull target, and then switch either to AoE or direct nuking if it's an enemy that needs to be burned down quick (having corruption up on a lot of targets will get you a lot of nightfall procs for instant shadowbolts). How quickly stuff goes down, how many you can DoT, etc., depends on the content and group.

Generally speaking, don't worry much about trash and keep in mind that the stuff you bring to the table works best for boss fights.

I usually /follow a healer, then afk and: grab a drink, take a whiz, get some doritos, let the dog out, smoke a cig, file my taxes, read a book from the Song of Fire and Ice series, work on my time machine, etc.

Also, I usually lol @ and heckle people who link damage meters on trash, and explain that they should savor the moment cause it won't ever happen during a boss fight- well, that was before 50% of each server had Fangs.

Unless Blizz decides to give us a little burst, which they won't, participating in trash killing after you have progressed to nearly "farm-mode" is a lost cause for locks.

Im Aff MS Destro OS. I just put as many dots up as possible and spam Seed of Corruption in Aff. In destro I just spam Rain of Fire.
