Oh an insectoid for the mage. Extra willpower. At the start, go for ice/fire magic. top left rune is a flame blast, bottom left and bottom right is a giant ice attack that covers 3 squares in front of you. You need about 4 in each for that. Then go for air and earth as you'll run out torches eventually (but collect all you can find for level 5 or 6, forget which one) and you'll need those to cast light spells.
Go for maces on your first fighter, swords on the second. First weapons you'll find.
