add game key to beta key

Hello guys I have question...I gave a beta key to a friend which he registered and is now in for the last beta weekend but now my friend would like to buy the game, and register the key from the game on the same account he registered the beta key. Can he do that ? Because from what i remember in order to make guild wars 2 account you need to enter some sort of key first...? So does my friend have to make a new account registered with the new key from buying the game or can he add that key to the account he registered his beta key on? Thank you

he should just be able to add the key to the already existing account.

I believe this (from the GW2 website) would apply:

If you are a Pre-Order customer who has already registered your Guild Wars 2 account, you can upgrade your account at register.guildwars2.com. To link your Pre-Purchase serial code to your existing account, just enter your new serial code in the field, click "Yes" under "Do you have a Guild Wars account?" and follow the steps from there

So purchase a key from buy.guildwars2.com, then go to register.guildwars2.com. Where it says "Do you have a Guild Wars account?", click yes and enter in the email address and password he registered the beta key with, then continue registration as normal.
