How would you do this? (weird question but bear with me)

So if you say you were with 2 people, lets say....Alan and Stephan, just of the top of my head.

To not make one seem less important by saying his name last how would you do that?

    Alan

    Stephan

Now Stephan seems less important because he is listed second and BELOW Alan.

    Stephan and Alan

Now Alan seems less important because he was mentioned second.

How do you tackle this question? I am not concerned about it, I am just curious, how could you possibly write their names without one getting mentioned 'first'.

I know this is a weird question but I just have been thinking about it lately, just curious.

I am almost certain that it is not possible to have a solution for this....

why is last less important? They always announce the winner of a contest last.

Well I perceive it so because the person was mentioned second or last.

    Let's just say it is.

If it's really an issue, just merge their names. Stepalan, or maybe Alphan.

No, it's not an issue at all, it's just a question that I have been asking myself. :P

    And last but not least

Give them each a title, with the second getting the best titles.
Amazing Alan and the magnificent Stephan.
    Problem solved!

It sounds kind of goofy, but I've heard it done before. Just say both names twice in oposite order.
Stephan and Alan, Alan and Stephan . . .
They both get first and last.

I say them both out loud, i'd say Alan and Stephen.

Personally I found Alan less important in both sayings, no idea what brought that on.

Also this is more or less a made up problem, I hardly think there is any evidence saying that the last one is less important.

There are a lot of things we cant solve, dont make this look like something special.

And if you ask me, its not a problem that needs solving because its not a problem at all.

Any random conditions will remedy the problem. As one person said, alphabetical. You can name people by how many letters are in their name, whatever you choose. And pre-determined set of conditions remove any element of favoritism unless that set of conditions was "Who do I like more."

Hm, you could always say "You guys.. etc", that way you are referring to both of them at the same time. You don't have always to call people by their names, problem solved. :P
