[TV] The Count of Monte Cristo?

Seriously, someone needs to make this book into a series (looking at you HBO). The story is arguably the greatest crowd-pleaser ever written, not to mention the deeper themes within the book which would intrigue the hipsters. You could easily get 4 seasons out of it. If a studio tries to make another movie out of this wonderful book I'll cry.

Just throwing this up for discussion as I'd like to see what other people think.

Well, there are two movies on it (and old-timey one and a more recent one featuring Jim Caviezel). I'm curious though - how exactly would they make it 4 seasons? If memory serves, the story is basically Happy > Jail > Escape Jail > Pirates > Count > Revenge > Happy. I suppose they could draw out the Count/Revenge portion of it... but meh. I hate it when they draw those things out and make convoluted plots with dozens of twists and turns. I usually end up yelling at the screen, "JUST FUCKING KILL HIM AND MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE FOR FUCK SAKE".

Idunno, I don't think I'd like it as a tv series. It's been done as movies twice, and doing it as a series would just make it seem like they're stretching it for the sake of having a series.

I want someone to make a comedy show of the Lord of the Rings story, the Office style. I wouldn't mind that becoming a series.

The problem with the internet is parallel to its greatest achievement: it has given the little man an outlet where he can be heard. Most of the time however, the little man is a little man because he is not worth hearing.

Aren't there already multiple movies and tv-series.
I don't hate you. I'm just not necessarily excited about your existence.

The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my favorite books, one of the few I've read more than once. Movies just don't have the time necessary to do justice to the book's plot. I'd say yes to a short tv series so long as a good network took it on.

As far as I know, there have been no tv series, only a couple of movies and an anime (Gankutsuo, which was pretty good but visually weird - I still liked it)

I'd say yes to that. If it was a guaranteed 1-season series, it would be awesome. However, that sort of thing almost never happens.

Dark Moor made it into a metal album. Close enough?

I for one would love to see this televised ! Its in fact long overdue and a ready audience already exists for this kind of an offering...

Care must be taken to follow the script and resist the temptation to inject new footage as the sequel writtenis really an all encompassing piece with just the right mixof the essential ingredients needed to make it a success!
